Loki was a huge hit for Disney+ when it launched in June, and something of a game-changer for the streaming service seeing as all of its original series will now premiere on Wednesdays.
The critical response to the Marvel Studios series has been overwhelmingly positive, while fans loved seeing the creation of the MCU's version of the Multiverse. However, the Screen Junkies team has now shared an "Honest Trailer" that includes a lot of fair points...and heaps of very funny ones.
A big chunk of this trailer is devoted to pointing out the similarities between Loki and Rick and Morty, a series Head Writer Michael Waldron obviously worked on before joining the MCU. They also highlight how much the show talked about timelines and Variants being "pruned," while pointing out the apparent hypocrisy that it was okay for Earth's Mightiest Heroes to travel back in time in Avengers: Endgame (it's a good point that everything is Iron Man's fault for not letting Hulk in the elevator).
However, something you may be unable to unsee after watching this is just how similar that finale focusing on "He Who Remains" is to what happens at the end of The Matrix with Neo and The Architect. We don't agree with everything here, but ultimately, it's all tongue in cheek and in good fun.
In our review of Loki, we concluded with: "Nothing can prepare you for Loki, a mind-bending dive into the Marvel Multiverse that takes everything you thought you knew about the MCU and turns it on its head for one of the most ambitious, craziest stories Marvel Studios has ever told."
