Welcome to another roundup of Marvel news! There's a lot out there to cover, but rather than writing up every single piece of fresh intel in separate articles, we've collected it for you in one place.
In today's edition, we kick things off with a big
Moon Knight rumour, along with comments from the Russo Brothers in which they make their interest in the Disney+ series clear. Then, we have some surprising reveals from Marvel Studios casting director Sarah Finn, and even some new concept art!
Oh, and you'll definitely want to check out James Gunn's thoughts on a Marvel vs. DC movie.
There's lots of great content here for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (and beyond), so all you have to do to check it out is click on the "View List" button down below...
Will Moon Knight Tie Into Blade?
It's no secret that Marvel's TV shows on Disney+ are going to tie into the movies but according to scooper
Daniel Richtman, the plan is for
Moon Knight to link up to the Mahershala Ali-led
Blade film.
Both projects are likely to arrive sometime in Phase 5 so this does make sense, especially as Marvel Studios starts delving into the supernatural side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a big way.
Joe And Anthony Russo Are Interested In Moon Knight
The Russo Brothers are currently hard at work directing
Cherry starring Tom Holland and, for now, it doesn't appear as if the directors are planning to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
However, there's one property they wouldn't say no to.
"Moon Knight would be fun," Joe told
Inverse.
"It’s hard to say because we’re in the middle of Cherry right now. We’re on location in Cleveland shooting at the moment. But anything Marvel does is going to be special."
"And we’ve had such an amazing working relationship with them that I’m sure we’re all gonna find something to come back together," he continued. Will that be
Moon Knight? We'll see.
Is This When The Black Widow Trailer Will Arrive?
Remember all that speculation about the
Avengers: Endgame trailer? If you do, you'll know to take this with a pinch of salt but it's said that the first teaser for
Black Widow will arrive on December 3rd.
That certainly sounds right, especially as it's likely to be attached to
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but you never know with these things. Either way, it should definitely be with us by the end of the year.
Chris Pratt Auditioned For The Role Of Captain America
Marvel Studios' hunt for its Captain America lasted for months but it was obviously Chris Evans who ultimately landed the role of the Star Spangled Avenger. However, it turns out that the man who ended up playing Star-Lord in
Guardians of the Galaxy auditioned to take on the role of Steve Rogers.
While that ultimately didn't work out, it was even harder to convince Pratt to play Peter Quill!
"James Gunn has been very generous about this in saying that I, to the point of annoying him, kept insisting that Chris Pratt was the guy for the part, but Chris didn’t want to play the part and refused to audition," casting director Sarah Finn reveals in a Disney+ documentary.
"I finally got him to audition and James Gunn said he didn’t want to see him and that really was a challenge. I was really happy when I finally got them together and it was honestly one of those eureka moments that we talk about in casting when it absolutely feels right and you know it’s right. James turned to me within ten seconds and said, ’He’s the guy.’"
Some Newly Surfaced Iron Man Concept Art
It's been over a decade since
Iron Man was released but thanks to Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding, we now have a look at concept art from the movie revealing that romance was once set to blossom between Tony Stark and Pepper Potts at a much earlier point.
It's also a very cool visual and one it would have been pretty incredible to see on the big screen.
James Gunn Thinks A Marvel Vs. DC Movie Could Happen
James Gunn is currently working on
The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros. and will then return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. That's something it would have been impossible to imagine happening a few years ago but does it open the door for something as crazy as a Marvel/DC crossover movie of some sort?
Well, while that doesn't appear to be on the horizon, Gunn revealed during a recent Instagram Q&A that he believes it could happen...one day.
"In the past I would have said no way," the filmmaker responded,
"but today I think anything is possible." That would certainly be a sight to behold but, if it does happen, it's likely a long way off.
Karen Gillan Nearly Played The Winter Soldier's Agent 13
Karen Gillan plays Nebula in the
Guardians of the Galaxy and
Avengers franchises but things could have gone very differently for the actress. According to Marvel Studios casting director Sarah Finn on the aforementioned documentary, she originally auditioned for the role of Sharon Carter in
Captain America: The Winter Soldier and came close to landing the role.
"Karen was someone who was an incredibly grounded and solid actor but who was also cocky and charming in the most wonderful way," Finn explained before addressing how she came to join the
Guardians franchise.
"Even though she had never played a character like Nebula, I was really interested to see her read. So, she came in and auditioned."
"James described Nebula as being somewhat childlike and Karen having this kind of cherubic beauty mixed with the darkness that she was able to convey," she concludes.
A Closer Look At Spider-Man: Far From Home's Stealth Suit
Peter Parker donned a number of costumes in
Spider-Man: Far From Home but one that's really resonated with fans is the Stealth Suit the wall-crawler used to disguise his identity in Europe.
Thanks to Meinerding, we now have a closer look at the suit's mask and the spectacular amount of work which went into bringing that to the big screen for the Marvel Studios/Sony Pictures film.
