A few days ago, Marvel Studios unexpectedly dropped the first trailer for Ms. Marvel, and it's definitely got fans talking. While some major changes have been made to the character's powers, the Disney+ series looks like an absolute blast, and Kamala Khan should be an exciting addition to the MCU.
Newcomer Iman Vellani plays Ms. Marvel, and during a recent visit to Marvel Studios' headquarters, the actress took the opportunity to share a message of gratitude with fans.
"Hi, I'm Iman Vellani and I play Ms. Marvel," she says in the video below, "and I would just like to thank everyone for watching the trailer. The response has been incredible and I'm very excited to finally have shared Kamala with the world. You know, she felt like my little secret for the longest time and now it's real and it looks real. It's crazy. June 8th. It's gonna be great."
Vellani's co-star in The Marvels, Brie Larson (Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel), has also shared her response to the trailer. Clearly, the Oscar-winner is just as excited as the rest of us.
"Ms. Marvel is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero mega fan with an oversized imagination—particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home—that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with super powers, right?"
It's also been confirmed that joining Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel are Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, Azhar Usman, Travina Springer, and Nimra Bucha. Bisha K. Ali is the show's Head Writer, while episodes were directed by Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.
Ms. Marvel premieres on Disney+ on June 8.
