The Times of India is reporting that Bollywood star Farhan Akhtar (Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara; Toofaan) is currently filming a top-secret project for Marvel Studios in Bangkok, Thailand.
Their source tells them, ''Farhan is currently stationed in Bangkok, along with an international cast and crew, for the shoot of a project with Marvel Studios, who are known to be one of the biggest film studios worldwide." and adds that "All other details of the project are strictly under wraps.”
While they don't provide any details on which production it could be, the safest bet is Iman Vellani's upcoming Ms. Marvel Disney+ series, which, after wrapping in Atlanta last month, was expected to move production to Bangkok for the tail-end of its shoot.
How Akhtar ultimately factors in remains to be seen, but with the city rumored to serve as a backdrop for Pakistan, he could play a role in the Red Dagger's (Aramis Knight) origin story or possibly something more prominent.
Akhtar, the son of legendary Indian screenwriter Javed Akhtar, is a multi-faceted talent, starting his career as a writer, director, and producer under his Excel Entertainment production house, where he directed the blockbusters Don - The Chase Begins Again and Don 2 starring global megastar Shah Rukh Khan, Dil Chahta Hai starring Aamir Khan, and Lakshya starring Hrithik Roshan.
He later transitioned to acting and has starred in a number of major hits, including, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. His next release is the boxing drama Toofaan, which, after being delayed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, will arrive on Amazon Prime Video on May 21.
