Marvel Studios' latest Disney+ series, Ms. Marvel, is set to premiere on the streamer next month, and USA Today has now shared a new featurette spotlighting previously unseen footage of Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) in action along with cast and creative team interviews.
The sneak peek also opens with a nice moment as Vellani is told that she's landed the lead role over Zoom.
What we've seen from the show so far seems to have been mostly well-received, but fans of the character were disappointed by the decision to significantly alter Khan's "embiggening" powers for her live-action bow. Both Kevin Feige and co-creator Sana Amanat have addressed the backlash in recent interviews, but we're not sure their explanations were considered to be entirely satisfactory.
Khan will debut in Ms. Marvel before going on to join fellow cosmically-powered heroes Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) on the big screen in The Marvels next year.
Check out the video below along with an officially-released version of SFX Magazine's latest cover.
"Ms. Marvel is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City," reads the updated synopsis. "An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero mega fan with an oversized imagination—particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home—that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with super powers, right?"
Ms. Marvel also stars Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, Azhar Usman, Travina Springer, and Nimra Bucha.
