MS. MARVEL Stills Offer A Closer Look At The MCU's Newest Superhero (And CAPTAIN MARVEL Fangirl)

Yesterday, Marvel Studios released the first trailer and poster for Ms. Marvel. While the decision to give Kamala Khan Green Lantern-style powers has proved somewhat divisive among fans, it makes sense all things considered. Inhumans have not been introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while Kamala's Embiggening powers in live-action may be a little too close to Mister Fantastic.

Ms. Marvel's newfound abilities are highlighted in one of three new stills from the Disney+ series.

They do look pretty cool, and by tying Kamala to what we're guessing are Kree Nega-Bands, it more easily explains how and why she ends up teaming with Carol Danvers in The Marvels. Talking of Captain Marvel, the teenager's apparent obsession with the Avenger is also showcased here in a very funny way. Finally, there's a shot of Kamala looking wistfully at the New York City skyline.

"Ms. Marvel is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero mega fan with an oversized imagination—particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home—that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with super powers, right?"

It's also been confirmed that joining Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel are Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, Azhar Usman, Travina Springer, and Nimra Bucha. Bisha K. Ali is the show's Head Writer, while episodes were directed by Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.

Ms. Marvel premieres on Disney+ on June 8.
