SHE-HULK: ATTORNEY AT LAW Star Tatiana Maslany Reveals She Missed Out On Big VENOM Role

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law star Tatiana Maslany has revealed that she was among those considered for the role of Anne Weying in Venom, but missed out on getting to play "the symbiote's girlfriend."

Tatiana Maslany put herself on the map with Orphan Black, but it looks like She-Hulk: Attorney at Law will be what makes her a household name. However, the actor could have ended up taking on a lead role in a very different superhero blockbuster: 2018's Venom.

"I’ve been trying to get them," Maslany said on the Comedy Bang Bang podcast of her attempts to join the Marvel Universe. "They’ve rejected me multiple times." Asked what projects she's auditioned for, she added: "Venom. Not for Venom, unfortunately. But for Venom’s girlfriend or whatever. Just Venom’s girlfriend. Just the symbiote’s girlfriend."

Michelle Williams ended up playing Anne Weying, of course, and got to suit up as She-Venom in Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Aside from that, it's been a largely thankless role for the actor, so we'd say Maslany lucked out by missing out on that franchise and landing the lead role in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

Later, Maslany would go on to note that, "There was something else too that did not work out for me. I’m quite happy with this one."

A lot of talented actors have joined Sony Pictures' Marvel Universe, seemingly under the belief that they might be signing up for the Marvel Cinematic Universe instead. Most have realised their mistake far too late, and Maslany definitely made the right decision by waiting for Marvel Studios to contact her.

"A verdict has been reached on She-Hulk, and it’s a mighty Marvel masterpiece!" we enthused in our review of the show's first four episodes. "Tatiana Maslany is sensational as the lawyer-turned-superhero, while the show’s quirky, offbeat tone perfectly encapsulates the weirder side of the MCU in a way you’ve never seen before."

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law's first episode premieres on Disney+ on August 18.
