AHSOKA Details Reveal Spoilery Intel On The Hunt For Thrawn, Lightsaber-Wielding Baddies, And More

While The Mandalorian initially appeared to be laying the groundwork for a story exploring the creation of Supreme Leader Snoke, the series has also set the stage for Grand Admiral Thrawn to make his return.

The villain was last seen being pulled through hyperspace alongside Ezra Bridger in Star Wars Rebels, though no one knows where the ancient Purrgil took them. Ahsoka Tano is searching for Thrawn, though, and believes that, by finding him, she'll be reunited with her old friend.

According to Making Star Wars (via SFFGazette.com), aiding Morgan Elsbeth in her mission to find Thrawn are two characters named Baylon and, his apprentice, Shin.

Ray Stevenson plays Baylon and is thought to be a former Jedi who escaped Order 66. However, he's fallen to the Dark Side and allegedly has a storied history with Thrawn (the site speculates that the Imperial may have saved him from death or being turned into a Sith Inquisitor, thereby creating a bond of sorts between the two men).

His armour has some "samurai aesthetics," while his weapon is described as a "red claymore saber" that's heavier than then norm and swung with immense power.

Shin (played by Ivanna Sakhno) is the one who supposedly leads a squadron of undead Stormtroopers against Ahsoka and our heroes later in the series. As the site explains, their helmets have "red and gold filament that moves along the fine veiny cracks," while they also boast "magic red bands tied around various parts of their armor that were put there by the Nighsisters."

As for Shin's weapon of choice, that's a "'red rapier lightsaber' and she moves lightning fast with the blade."

It's become clear that Ahsoka is going to explore the Force and the Star Wars mythos in ways unlike anything we've seen before, though that lines up with much of what we saw in Rebels. How this will inform the story Jon Favreau is telling is hard to say right now, though we have all the faith in the Galaxy in Dave Filoni...

It was only a matter of time, now stormtroopers cant be bad guys or mean anymore, they have to be controlled against their will. Anyway Ray Stevenson sounds really cool, the concept of a jedi fallen to the dark side after order 66 is new welcome territory

Is anyone else bothered that Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau are going to spend the next 10+ years of their lives building a story that pays off a terrible twist that Kathleen Kennedy and JJ Abrams pulled out of their asses at the eleventh hour in 2019?

@santoanderson - no. They bothered 10 years as well with The Clone Wars, and that turned out great as well. Siege of Mandalore us still peak Star Wars for me

@bkmeijer1 - if they’d never pulled this rabbit before i *might* be a bit skeptical, but Dave already did this dance with Clone Wars, and the proof is in the pudding so to speak. I hate what KK, Ruin and Jar Jar did to the sequel potential, sure, but at least they’ll be able to do SOMETHING to ease the pain. I already like what they've done with Luke.

@globaltravels - yeah, the sequels wasted a lot of potential. But even with the elements that are there, I think Filoni & Favreau can do a lot of cool stuff.

I've heard Ray Stevenson's rumoured/leaked character design that much by this point. When an actual picture is leaked half of us are gonna be like "That's not what it's supposed to look like!".

So “ Baylon” is basically another cannibalized idea from the EU.

Joruus C'Baoth Was the dark side force user who Thrawn worked with in the Thrawn Trilogy of books.

Erase Episode 7 to 9 and I will be a happy star wars fan again.

@SafeSpace - at the end of ESB, Luke falls asleep in a bacta tank and dreams of Ewoks. Multiple Death Stars and Bad jokes haunt his slumber as if he were tripping on some bad Island Monster Titty Milk. On waking he is relieved to find that R1, Eps 4 & 5, and the holiday special are the true reality and everything else was nightmarish fantasy
