Star Wars: Visions took a lot of fans by surprise, and the anime anthology series quickly proved itself one of the most exciting, unique takes on this Galaxy Far, Far Away we've seen in quite some time. A second batch of shorts hasn't been officially announced yet, but a report from Cinelinx (via SFFGazette.com) has shared an update likely to make many of you happy.

The site reveals that they've heard from multiple sources that more Star Wars: Visions is coming to Disney+ later this year, with the prevailing opinion being that it will arrive in September or October.

That should nicely fill the gap between Andor and The Mandalorian, and while there's currently no word on which animation studios are working on the series, there will reportedly be some returning from the first season. This means we'll be getting follow-ups to certain stories, with familiar characters from the first round of shorts coming back (and there are definitely some we hope to see more of).

It sounds like an official announcement and perhaps even some footage will debut during next month's Star Wars Celebration, so we may not have too much longer to wait before this news is made official.

Presenting all-new, creative takes on the galaxy far, far away, Star Wars: Visions was a series of animated short films celebrating Star Wars through the lens of the world's best anime creators. The anthology collection will bring fantastic visions from several of the leading Japanese anime studios, offering a fresh and diverse cultural perspective to this iconic franchise.

Stay tuned to SFFGazette.com for more on the series as we have it.

I think it would be interesting if they take one country as source per season. The first was Japan, and as the second I would like to see some French studios

Hopefully they can tell some stories without jedis this time. It was kinda ridicilous how even the lighthearted band story had to make sure that we knew that the main character was a former jedi student.

@FinnishDude - I wonder if they know how. Other than Rogue One, which more or less was self-explanatory in terms of the Jedi's absence, they seem to not know or want to commit to anything. I would have rather seen alphabet squad than rogue squad if you keep it in the OT, but anything else is seemingly possible. Imagine if Abeloth was retooled as horror, for example. I think the original idea of the Whills overseeing everything, and not just the Skywalker saga, is a segue to any number of tales within or without of the force.

@FinnishDude - the most vocal Star Wars fans seem to only care about the Jedi and Disney got scared off from trying anything outside that so no probably not

Sick! I loved the first season, some were better than others but very smartly done. I'd rank the segments like this:
1. The Ninth Jedi
2. The Elder
3. The Duel
4. TO-B1
5. The Village Bride
6. Akakiri
7. The Twins
8. Lop and Ocho
9. Tatooine Rhapsody

@Dredd97 - the ninth Jedi was absolute class. That twist was mind blowing
