OBI-WAN KENOBI Spoilers: Reva's Story Arc Reached An Unexpected Conclusion In The Show's Epic Finale

The final episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi is now streaming on Disney+, but where does the show leave Reva, a character who has generated a great deal of discussion over the past five weeks? Find out here...

Over the course of Obi-Wan Kenobi's first five episodes, Reva proved herself one of the most compelling new additions to the Star Wars franchise. Initially introduced as a member of the Sith Inquisitors, we'd learn that she had spent years secretly plotting to kill Darth Vader after Anakin Skywalker murdered her fellow Younglings during his attack on the Jedi Temple on the night of Order 66.

She survived the encounter and somehow fell into the clutches of the Empire, but the penultimate chapter of this series confirmed that Vader had just been using her quest for revenge to further his own goals the entire time. With that, he and The Grand Inquisitor left Reva for dead, but after learning about Luke Skywalker's existence, her desire for vengeance helped her survive for a second time.

In today's finale, Reva has (surprisingly quickly, we should note) made her way to Tatooine. She's looking for Owen, the farmer she threatened in Obi-Wan Kenobi's first episode, and when a local tells him that a Sith Inquisitor is hunting Luke, he and Beru prepare to defend the child once night falls.

They fend the villain off for as long as possible, but Luke is eventually forced to run into the desert with Reva in hot pursuit. She's not at full strength after being downed by Vader, but finds Anakin's son and prepares to deliver a killing blow with her lightsaber. However, it's then she remembers what her former Master did all those years ago; will she become just like the man she hates?

It's at this point that Obi-Wan returns to Tatooine and finds a distraught Owen and Beru searching for Luke. Reva approaches carrying the child, though he's not moving. She places him at their feet and he begins to stir, and the former Sith Inquisitor tells Obi-Wan that she failed to kill Vader and avenge her fallen friends.

Obi-Wan explains that Reva hasn't failed them. By showing mercy to Luke, she has, in fact, given them peace and honoured their memory. He assures Reva that she hasn't become like Vader, and who she does become now is up to her. A tearful Reva takes out her lightsaber and drops it in the sand as Ben helps her to her feet and tells her she's finally free. They both are.

That's where we leave Reva in the series, but it's clear Lucasfilm plans to tell more stories with this character. Where those play out remains to be seen, but we'll no doubt see her again soon.

What did you think about the Obi-Wan Kenobi finale?

What was unexpected about it?

Unexpected?

Unwanted
Unwarranted
Unwelcomed
Unnecessary
Unearned
Underwhelming

Unexpected is the least of the "Uns"

Also, "Reva proved herself one of the most compelling new additions to the Star Wars franchise"

I mean, opinions are opinions but...

@DarthOmega - compelling lol. Not a single thing compelling abiut this character.

Beru had 5 minutes of screen time and was way more of a badass than this hack character.

What a pointless show. This show is nothing but filler and doesn't change anything. Reva is a terrible character and Deborah Chow chose some terrible takes that made her look like a horrible actor. Her chosing not to kill Luke is dumb, especially when it was hinted that she killed force sensitive people of all ages at the beginning of the show just to get close enough to Vader to try and kill him.

This show is so pointless, meaning you can skip it and nothing in canon gets better or worst. That Vader scene too where he was talking to a hologram Palpetine gave me Rise of the Skywalker PTSD where it felt like he was talking to somone's pre-recorded lines. That final fight scene was horribly shot and looked so cheap. This show is as bad as Book of Bobba Fett.

This show is as fun as inhaling Chewbacca's anal exhaust.

NGL, I love McGregor in the role so much that I want more. The show desperately needs a new showrunner, new writers, and a new director, but I'd watch Ewan in the role for as many seasons as we could get.

As for Reva, well yeah she had potential, and so did every other character in the show, but she was failed by weak writing and directing. This is all fixable. Lots of shows found their way in S2 and on, and this could happen here too, but we don't know how much McGregor is willing to do.

Does anybody know why Filoni wasn't given the reigns to do this show? Or how come he isn't running all things Star Wars?

@MaxPaint - Either you are very good at choosing what to watch or you haven't watched that much stuff. It may have been underwhelming at parts, but come on...

Her ending arc was beyond predictable and boring. Only thing worth a damn in this episode was the Obi-Wan and Vader conflict. Damn good stuff. What a disappointment this show was. The original idea to make this a movie is sounding better and better.

What an awesome episode of a great show. Amazing to see an epic battle between Obi-wan and Darth Vader. Bring on Andor. Bring on season 2 of Obi-wan.
