The introduction of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of the Multiverse has opened the door to Sony Pictures finally being able to use Tom Holland's Spider-Man in their version of the Marvel Universe (which, despite some tenuous links, isn't officially the same world as the MCU).
With that in mind, Peter Parker is almost certainly going to cross paths with Venom sometime after Spider-Man: No Way Home is released. Whether Venom: Let There Be Carnage sets the stage for that meeting remains to be seen, but the tease below makes it clear that Sony certainly wants us to think it might be on the cards as we head towards the sequel's release two weeks from now.
While Spidey really should have donned that alien costume before Eddie Brock, a meeting (or fight) would still make sense. Peter could spend at least a little time dealing with the symbiote, and once it returns to its original host, well, he'll finally have that classic symbol on his chest!
This is going to be a "wait and see" situation, but if you haven't been paying attention to Venom: Let There Be Carnage up until now, this could be a good time to start.
"Tom Hardy returns to the big screen as the lethal protector Venom, one of Marvel's greatest and most complex characters," reads a brief synopsis that was released on the movie's website (where you can now purchase tickets for the movie). "Directed by Andy Serkis, the film also stars Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris and Woody Harrelson, in the role of the villain Cletus Kasady/Carnage."
As noted, Venom: Let There Be Carnage stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris, Reid Scott, Stephen Graham, and Woody Harrelson. It's set to be released in theaters on October 1, 2021.
