In what has been in development for a very long time, Minecraft, based on the popular Mojang game, has hit another fork in the road. After losing director Shawn Levy several years ago, it seemed as though things are going smooth with It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia creator Rob McElhenny. With a May 2019 release date looming, the newest news suggests that it may take a little longer to see Steve on the big screen.
As reported by The Wrap, director and writer of the project, Rob McElhenny has dropped out due to creative differences. Jason Fuchs (Wonder Woman) wrote the lastest draft with the comedian.
Thankfully, Warner Bros. has already found another pair to take over scripting duties. Aaron and Adam Nee, who are currently attached to direct the Masters of the Universe adaptation, are set to write another draft of the screenplay. Considering how the animation process takes a while, don’t expect Minecraft to hit for another few years.
