Will Max Landis Direct An Upcoming Superhero Movie? Wants To Pitch WONDER WOMAN To WB

In a recent Reddit Q&A, writer and director Max Landis dropped a few pretty big hints that he'll be working on a superhero movie at some point in the near future, adding that he would like to pen a Wonder Woman adaptation "using a pitch I intend to make to WB". Check it out!

Despite the fact that he will no longer be involved with the sequel to the critically acclaimed Chronicle, it sounds as if a superhero movie of some sort may still be on the cards for screenwriter and director Max Landis. In a recent Reddit Q&A session (via ComicBook.com), Landis apparently confirmed that he is indeed interested in helming a comic book movie and replied with, "You'll see," when asked which superhero he would most like to bring to the big screen. When specifically asked about which film, TV show or character he would most like to reboot given the chance, Landis added, "You'll know sooner than you think." Could it be Wonder Woman? Well, in regards to WRITING a superhero movie at some point, he expressed interest in: "Either a version of Green Lantern that played like ET meets Stand By Me using the goth/punk [scene] and Kyle Raynor, or Wonder-Woman, using a pitch that I intend to make to WB." Oh, and like pretty much everyone recently, Landis was asked to share his thoughts on Zack Snyder and Warner Bros.' recent decision to cast Ben Affleck as Batman. "Everyone's version of Batman would be different, but I think Affleck is probably fine." So, some pretty vague comments from the writer here, but it definitely sounds as if he has something big on the horizon. Whether that is indeed a superhero movie remains to be seen, but it certainly sounds like an extremely likely possibility...

Weird. I was expecting him to say 'Affleck is shit, and I would do it sooo much better and here's why' followed by a 50 minute pitch where he details a story that contradicts his supposed 'core beliefs' about the character . I mean, that's his thing, right?

Now seriously. He's a good writer but has way too much ego. With the right director -one who also has a clear vision of the film and can keep him in check- he could make something great. Not in the director seat though, not yet at least. He's the kind of guy who, if given a really big film as his first feature, would go mad with power and ruin everything.

ya, i'd be absolutely fine with not seeing a GL solo film featuring Kyle. Jordan or Stewart are the only characters interesting enough to hold a solo film. Rayner and Gardner are always better as team players.
Though I'd like to see how Baz plays out. seems like a badass

I don't like Max Landis. He's far too up himself. But if he does Wonder Woman he'll either ace it and then I'll have a great WW movie or he'll crash and burn and I'll see him get taken down a peg or two.

No doubt he can at least write a DECENT script. Hire him as a script writer and if it's good, take it. Don't let him be involved any further besides a few small talks with a director, his ego's as big as the planet and would do everything he can to have all control over a production which would more than likely lead to on-set fighting (verbal or otherwise). Dude writes ONE good movie and his ego goes to mach 5.

@JFogg - his rant on MoS was stupid and baseless. He's too attached to the golden age ideals of what these heroes are, and wouldn't be able to properly ground them as a result. He can't believe that Superman, under any circumstances, would kill for the sole reason of "superman doesn't kill". why though? MoS is supposed to be an origin story, so we need to find out why he will not, under any circumstances, kill, and i think that final scene with zod shows exactly where that line in the sand comes from. with batman there's a reason he won't kill - we see that from the moment his parents are murdered. with Supes, we get that dawning realization at the end.
End Rant.

Bottom line - Landis is an arrogant prick who won't fully understand how to make these characters relevant and relatable while retaining their character.

i dont think him being a dick and talking trash about MOS and zack shouldnt stop us from letting him bring us a WW movie or a pitch to WB for a WW movie...if he has a pitch for WW to WB doesnt mean he will direct
he cud just give the idea...thats what nolan did with zack with MOS nolan went to zack with the MOS pitch
i honestly dont mind and i hope we get a WW movie
if it gets the DC universe moving im all for it
