She joins a cast headlined by a returning Gal Gadot (Justice League), who will reprise her role as the Princess of Themyscira. Primetime Emmy-nominee Chris Pine, Academy Award-nominee Kristen Wiig, and Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones) will also feature in leading roles.

Production is already underway on the eagerly-awaited sequel, which is expected to hit theaters on November 1, 2019.

Rothwell is best known for her role as Kelli on HBO's Insecure and her more recent credits include Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Love, Simon, BoJack Horseman, and Search Party. In addition to Wonder Woman 1984, she'll also appear in Paramount's Sonic the Hedgehog next year.

@NicolausCopernicus - Considering we’ll have two Joker’s it’s possible but I think Viola Davis can pull that off no problem.

Finally watched WW the other night and as much as I enjoyed it some scenes where a little off for me.

But I will say I found Gal suited the role so I’m definitely looking forward to the sequel.

@ChangAlang - It was ok. Overrated. We really wanted to like it, and left the theater trying to talk it up to ourselves. By the time we got home, were like yeah, it wasn't that good

@ChangAlang - I'd give it a 5/10 at best. Bland villains, weak cgi, too many familiar story tropes. It was like watching a mish-mash of CA:TFA and Thor, but with a female protagonist.

@Pathogen
@Jonesy

I’d probably give it a 6.5/10. CGI wasn’t the best and some of the supporting cast seemed to mull about sometimes.

I’m glass half full WW84 will be a lot better.

@ChangAlang - based on the stills and the info that's been released, I'm very willing to give it a chance. Seems very different, ala Thor Ragnarok.

@Jonesy - No one has been able to tell me where, in “Captain America: The First Avenger” or “Thor” the scene where everyone the hero saves is killed (or where the hero loses faith in humanity and temporarily sides with the villain, killing at least fifty people out of vengeance) occurs. Either I missed those scenes, or “Wonder Woman” has nothing to do with “Captain America: The First Avenger” or “Thor”. I'm going to go with the latter.

You ruin good films when you compare then to Marvel movies. Especially when they have nothing in common with Marvel movies. You are so fixated on “We've already seen a superhero film take place during a world war in 'Captain America’” or “We've already seen a mythological figure in the human world in 'Thor’” that you don't realize that “Wonder Woman” is neither film, and it has its own story that has nothing to do with those previous films, and is actually very unique, if not unheard of, in the Comic Book Movie genre.

@SisterSunday52 - I didn't say it was beat-for-beat Captain America meets Thor. There was just a lot about the movie(the old war setting, fantasy land of ancient warriors, ever-hopeful and good hearted protagonist, fish-out-of-water humor) that I feel like I've already seen. You can find similarities in things without them being carbon clones. The fact that I used two Marvel movies is irrelevant. I wasn't comparing DC to Marvel, I was just giving my opinion on one superhero movie by comparing it to others.

That being said, I'm happy you were able to enjoy Wonder Woman in a way that I could not. I'm still pretty pumped for WW84.
