Patty Jenkins is returning for Wonder Woman 2, and unlike the first movie, Jenkins will walk away with a sizeable amount this time around. A new report claims that Warner Bros. is committed to seeing Jenkins return for the Wonder Woman sequel, and to make this happen, the studio is ready to pay her a whopping $9 million.
If this turns out to be true, then Ms. Jenkins will surely become the world's highest-paid female director of all time. If Wonder Woman 2 manages to surpass that of the first film, then surely the money Warner Bros. is willing to spend should be worth it enough to sanction a third movie.
Now, if you've been keeping up with the DC Universe, then this move should come as no surprise since Wonder Woman, to many, is the best movie in the DC Universe. Not only is it the best rated, but it's also the best performer in the United States as it surpassed Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with a $412 million haul.
What should we expect from Wonder Woman 2?
Recently, Jenkins confirmed the movie will take place in the 80s, which is a huge departure from the World War 1 setting that most moviegoers enjoyed with the first film in this growing franchise.
Chances are, Warner Bros. and DC might want to focus on the Cold War, so expect to see Princess Diana kicking Soviet butts back and forth on a regular basis. As for the villain, there's a chance Cheetah could take top billing here, but that's just a rumor for now.
Expect Warner Bros. to give more details about Wonder Woman 2 at this year's Comic-Con along with every other major movie set to come out in the DC Universe.
Marvel is making a killing of the superhero movie scene right now, and to keep up, DC needs to find its footing before it falls into a well of unrivaled mediocrity for good.
