Bryan Singer says Wolverine Could be in Future X-Men First Class Movies

The X-producer told IGN that there is room for Hugh Jackman to reprise his role as Wolverine in potential First Class sequel...

Speaking exclusively to IGN, Singer explains "I think there would definitely be room. I think it would be a very exciting thing. This universe has to establish itself before, but that would be a very interesting and fun thing." He goes on to say that "It's a completely different film. Xavier and Magneto are important characters as well. It's just a different X-Men film. I obviously love the character, but you can't not do it just because he's not in it."

What does this mean for the X-Men movie franchise? Wolverine being in a future first class movie would certainly contradict the cannon of the previous movies, or could they figure out a clever way to weave him in and keep continuity?

Perhaps with all the development problems of The Wolverine movie a future First Class installment may be our next chance to see Jackman don the claws again.

Tell us what you think this could mean for the X-Men movies in the comments section.

X-Men: First Class will be released worldwide in early June.

I agree. Leave it go a couple of movies and have it tie in with the first x-men movie.

i could go for a reboot with a similar setting and feel to the 90s 'toon,
we need at least one live action X Men movie with sentinals in at least,
although if they are really desperate to keep the current timeline, how about a movie set a generation afterx-3, with an aging wolverine and sentinals and bishop and cable and a few other mutants that we haven't seen yet.

Fox is killing wolverine, yes hes awesome but we dont need him in everything. when fox does the ff4 reboot they are problly go give jackman (as wolverine) a cameo in that also just for shit and giggles.

why does wolverine have to be the centre of the x-universe ? his a good character but come on other characters suffer because of him i.e cyclops.

Just stop everything. No more X-Men movies from FOX. Please just stop. The only thing slightly related to the X-Men from FOX that I want is Deadpool. That is all.

God, No!!!!!

Wolverine was introduced in X1, leave him there!

and he has his own franchise, we dont need him in the new trilogy.

Wolverine shud not be in the first class prequal trilogy. Instead give Wolverine his own trilogy.
Which shud be like this:
1st movie-X men origins: Wolverine
2nd movie-The Wolverine (Japan storyline)
3rd movie-WOLVERINE VS. HULK !!!
bwahahahahahaha !!!

Honestly, I can't ever see Hugh Jackman reprising his role as Wolverine in ANY future First Class movie (IF we even see any sequals). Hugh still looks great as Wolverine, but in First Class, it wouldn't work. Why? Because he would look older in First Class and younger in the X-Men trilogy. Bryan Singer, DO NOT do this!

Look, Fox... X3 was a major misstep. Your studio boss didn't like the franchise (because it was his predecessor's idea) and wanted that one to be the last of the series, but... oops... turns out you were at the beginning of a giant superhero boom. And you [frick]ed yourselfs. I get it.

Just... stop trying to work around your arbitrary "end" point with tortured prequel set-ups and the like. Give the people what they want, with the characters they want. Do you even realize that the X-men franchise features time travel in many of its plots? You want to undo the missteps of X3? It's easy... The future needs Cable, Cable needs Scott and Jean to *not die*. Ta-da! You can go back to playing with all of the best mutants again, and tell stories that seem to be going somewhere rather than filling in the histories.

Lol. Seems like Singer couldn't care less about his previous X-men films. While you're at it Singer bring back Tyler Mane as Sabretooth. PMSL!

what the [frick]! singer sure likes to [frick] with xmen. The first two xmen films were good when they came out but now they just play suck and forgetable. wolverine is not the center of attention of the x universe [frick]. fox and singer need to stop making x films all together. I would prefer seeing blade and that came out a year before xmen.

@newbus
it sure does seem like he doesnt care about the previous ones. did you know he wrote the story for first class.

@DarkKnight7 Singer and FOX dont care about the Xmen at all, but dont worry theres enough people in the world thats going to see First Class that they will keep.....(sniffs)......making them excuse me..(Gets on chair, ties noose tightly) PeteyParker was here (Knocks chair away)........

Thor was off the hook. it had a story and a lesson for thor to learn. Marvel Studios keeps faithful to their properties unlike fox who just butchers the marvel properties.

Dear Fox,

There are plenty of other X-men to use other than Wolverine. Also Wolverine is short and stocky not tall. Please stop destroying my favorite character.

Thank you

Hugh Jackman IS Wolverine. But if he's in any sequel to first class I won't watch it. And if they can't get the ball rolling for The Wolverine, why not start production on X4?! It's not like the actors are busy with any other X-Men projects, and the only cast members worth keeping are Patrick Stuart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, James Marsden (with Cyclops leading the X-Men), Daniel Cudmore, Liev Schreiber (you have to admit he owned as Sabretooth) and Kelsey Grammer (the only good thing about X3). The rest can be replaced (hotter Rogue and Kitty for a start, and leave Jean dead, and Zoe Saldana for Storm).

Go ahead. Say it's a reboot. Say what we all want to hear. I really can't wait to see First Class, it's my most anticipated film of the summer, but I'd probably love it more knowing it's not conected to the earlier films.
If they bring in Cyclops and Jean Grey in the second movie, hopefully Angel and Iceman too, to complete the original team, and just use Wolverine in the third, that'd be perfect.

The worst thing about the X-Men is wolverine. Please keep him as far away from this new franchise as possible.
