X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX Reshoots Are Seemingly Underway As Director Simon Kinberg Teases Jean Grey's Fiery Return

Over the long weekend, X-Men: Dark Phoenix director/writer Simon Kinberg shared a few behind-the-scenes snapshots, which may have essentially revealed that reshoots are indeed getting underway this week.

It appears that the planned reshoots on 20th Century Fox's X-Men: Dark Phoenix may be just about ready to get rolling as director Simon Kinberg has shared a couple photos from the top-secret set, revealing crew members preparing for the additional photography.

While a report last month did claim that the reshoots would last close to three months, a follow-up story quickly debunked that rumor and shared that the pickups were actually scheduled for just around three weeks, which lined up with the standard amount of time studios typically allot for reshoots on their biggest films.

The studio has declined to comment in both instances, so it's hard to say which story will ultimately prove to be accurate, but, at the moment, it doesn't seem like the pickups may be as significant as many have been led to believe. It's also quite telling that Kinberg has finally shared photos from the set after we saw barely anything during the initial principal photography, which concluded in October 2017.

Hope this movie turns out well... the X-Men movies are either super great (DOFP, Logan), mediocre (Wolverine), or garbage. This film should serve as a finale to their series’ past plot.

That moment when you see 'reshoots' and remember what happened to Justice League...

@Peel - Most movies have reshoots. Just not all movies reshoot half their film like Solo and Justice League.

@Peel - I think one benefit is they delayed the release. They aren't rushing the reshoots (vfx, story etc) to meet the orginal relase date.

I also suspect the reshoots will probably be reworking the third act to bring closure to the film; instead of directly setting up a sequel. That way if Disney descides to reboot the franchise, we aren't left with open story threads.
