After recently being announced as the next Gambit in X-Men: Apocalypse and a solo film to follow, GQ Magazine asked Tatum why he loved the character he soon will portray.

“[Gambit was] the only superhero I really followed.… He was the most real to me: smoking, drinking, women-loving, thief. He just looked cool to me. I've always loved him. And obviously he’s Cajun.”

X-Men: Days of Future Past comes to theaters May 23. X-Men: Apocalypse, which will introduce Tatum’s Gambit to the X-Men films, is scheduled for release on May 23, 2016.

Well, that I can actually understand because Gambit was always my favorite X-Man, and I would often buy only comics which he was featured.

there are no Gambit or Deadpool solo films being planned, each will appear in Apocalypse and X-Force respectively. see where it goes from there.

He ruined Duke in G.I. Joe so I guess it's only fair he ruins Gambit too.

Via THR "Multiple sources say that Tatum will get a stand-alone spinoff, with his version of Gambit being introduced in X-Men: Apocalypse.". That doesn't mean that a stand alone film will actually happen, but it is planned and in development.

I hate Tatum... I really hope he doesn't ruin my favorite XMan... I wish Kitsch would've come back. He could've been great with the right script. Or Trent Ford, he'd be perfect.
