Niklander's THE WOLVERINE Review (SEMI-SPOILERS)

The burning question: is it better than BORIGINS (I meant X-Men Origins: Wolverine)!? Hit the jump to find out!

First of all I have to say this to 20th Century Fox they do not I repeat DO NOT learn from their mistakes.

Yeah I said it WOLVERINE sure is an improvement over to ORIGINS: Wolverine but it leaves you baffled as to how many times can you serve the same thing but with a different taste!

The reason I never liked Iron Man 2 and 3 (Wait before some "fans" of Iron Man get upset I will elaborate further) those movies have the same premise hero pops up faces issues villain shows up to [frick] up his day and he saves the day without actually learning something because let's be honest Stark always acts like a dick to anyone else except Pepper Pots. Same thing happened with STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS( I personally kinda liked the movie sure it felt like a revamp of WRATH OF KHAN but yet at least they didn't make a copy with the movie scene by scene).

But before this review gets out of the topic lets go back to Wolverine.

The movie has a perfect premise I will say that. Here we have to see Wolverine who (after some time of the events of Xmen 3:The Last Stand) has moved to the wilderness to cope with the loss of Jean Grey after he killed her. Well the only good scenes in this movie is between Wolverine and Jean Grey.In those scenes you can tell that Famke Janssen really enjoys her part(Bryan Singer if you want to redeem yourself and the Xmen franchise BRING HER BACK).

Other than that the action in the movie is good my only gripe is that somehow Wolverine got the Nolan treatment.

Yes the Nolan fever is everywhere which means prepare to see the villains to be pussified to the death. Normally I wouldn't argue about it but when I want to see Silver Samurai I want to see him using his MUTANT ABILLITIES not just some guy in an adamantium suit. You guessed wrong if it was Will Yun Lee who was reported to be in the movie as Silver Samurai but it really actually is Yashida the old man who Wolverine saves in the beginning of the movie.

My main gripe with this movie just like Iron Man 3 did is that it already did something we already have seen. We have seen a tormented Wolverine before in Origins and in Xmen 3 how many times do we need to see him tormented again just for the Hugh Jackman fangirls!?(Oh and seriously do I really need to get a brief glimspe of Hugh Jackman's ass OH LORD sure gave me strength the other day because the theater was packing with ladies and they wouldn't shut up about it.We get it ladies we will never be Hugh Jackman but come on) In Iron Man 3 how many times will Stark be afraid of death since he had that in Iron Man 2.You see the point nothing has changed.

Hugh Jackman's sixth outing as Wolverine is one of the best highlights of the movie and along with his Japanese female co stars. Rila Fukushima who plays Yukio defitenely has a bond with Jackman but the one who really has a connection with Jackman is Tao Okamoto who plays Mariko Yashida(The second best thing in the movie is defitenely their relationship which helps Wolverine to move on from his torment)

The worst downside in this movie is simply Viper which felted unneeded(I mean you could have Narada doing the dirty work why have someone else?!)Svetlana Khodchenkova sure tries but the script doesn't do her justice and just proves that FOX needed to shoehorn Viper because they wanted to shove it up to Marvel!?I dont know and at this point I dont care.

Overrall the movie is sure an improvement over Origins but it's a movie which just feels way too generic which loses the connection to the Xmen comics and just downgrades characters you loved growing up reading them as a kid. Well at least we got Xmen:Days Of Future Past to hope it will deliver or else FOX will have some angry fans knocking at their frontgate

I really disagree, I thought this was the best character study CBM since Batman Begins. My only real problems were that it didn't like blow me which I was hoping it would do as it impressed me a lot so that left me with a slight feeling of disappointment, some of the things could have been explained better and the constant romance glancing was forced to me. On the flip side I though the action was pretty damn brutal for a PG-13 movie, the way the action was shot was just spectacular (especially the train scene), the performances were all around great and it had some holy shit moments that really shocked me.
SPOILER: Wolverine getting his adamantium claws ripped out.
