X-Men: First Class Video Semi-Review Blog!

Though not considered an initial review for Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class prequel, two familiar media sites have accumulated their "reactions" in a video blog. Check it out!

The head-honchos of both media outlets Collider & SlashFilm have assembled once again in a video blog, now sharing initial "reactions" after viewing Fox & Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class prequel. While several semi-reviews have been reported earlier today, in which all have been fairly positive, check out their video below.

"If you were nervous the latest chapter in the X-Men franchise might disappoint, I’m happy to report it’s a huge home-run. Everything from the great script to the awesome performances by the entire cast (with special mention to James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender) makes this X-Men film my favorite in the franchise. Also, the film is loaded with incredible action and a ton of Easter Eggs for the fans. Even the sets and costumes are great. Trust me, as soon as the movie is over, you’re going to wish the next chapter was coming out next week."

For others who've seen the mutant-packed prequel, the embargo lifts Wednesday for full-fledged reviews, even with spoilers.

X-Men: First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men. Starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Kevin Bacon, and January Jones, the film releases June 3!

How much did they get paid for that, Star trek? Come on The original Cast of the X-Men are not aprt of this they could have used them but they did not. They do not even act like that is a factor. It IS IMPORTANT!!! Effects that is all that matters to these guys these are not the X-Men thses are the S-Men. X-Men United really that movie was lame and really distorted take on X-Men: God Loves Man Kills (please read that instead) These guys had to been paid. i hope one day marvel gets the rights back.

Eh, I have no problem believing it could be a good film. It doesn't change my disappointment that Fox so thoroughly destroyed the best characters of the franchise and now have to do prequels filled out with D-list characters like the butterfly Angel, Darwin, Riptide and Nightcrawler's dad.

I think prettynuclear is mocking movies such as Thor and Iron Man 2 which have major plot points focused on another movie. But blind movie bashers tend to let a lot of things go over their head, don't they witty?

...........Still no. Sry FOX is just not getting my money. Listen the thing is there was a 50/50 chance of it being bad. But if you ever want Xmen being mentioned or alluded to by the Avenger group, you gotta think long term. Apparently FOX finally made a good Xmen movie, but it took them 11 years!! And everyone is saying we don't have the original five and thats fine i guess but admit it if THOR can allude to him being Donald Blake and Iron Man can have his full origin and we don't have to accept any "creative liberties", shouldn't we be able to get the X-men that way also? Now don't get me wrong IM NOT a purest but come on! FOX "creative liberties" is like saying i can walk thru Wal-Mart with an AK-47 becuz of my right to bear arms. Its just 5 xmen movies down and not one, not ONE showing Cyke as an effective leader or the fact that Jean really chose him over Logan. Or a Sentinel. Or Apocalypse, Mr. Sinister (and his connection to Cyke), Cassandra Nova, the REAL Juggernaut (B1TCH!!!), Gambit as an Xman, a hot Rogue, Bishop and/or Cable, or any of the other countless iconic Xmen characters they could spin into an entire and interestingly twisting tale.......but they don't Marvel has been plotting since 2007 and 4 years later they start Filming the Avengers.....FOX after 11 years of making mediocrity decides to GO BACK TO THE BEGINNING AND DO IT RIGHT FINALLY!!!! If anything can't people just agree they're being cheated and not see it? Even if it's the GREATEST MOVIE EVER MADE..... Won't be better than the Dark Knight, so why not wait? Ive seen four Xmen....First Thor, Cap, and GL EVER!!!! I'm just saying think about it.

Pretty obvious now that the film is a reboot / re-engineering of the film franchise.

I never understood what all u complainers were whining about to begin with, this has always looked and sounded like a heck of a fun film, and i simply can't wait to see this! Its been the CBM i've been waiting for most outta this yrs lineup, and it still is that way, today... I can't freaking wait!

God you fanboys are whiney ass pussies. Shut up. Paid by FOX? No.

Vaughn made a good X Men film. Surprise? No, he's a good director that knows how to tell story arcs and action. From the very get go me and
a minority of others believed in the film due to the involvement of Vaughn. It makes me sad to think of how awesome X3 would have been if FOX wasn't stupid and had Ratner come on instead of fighting for Vaughn to stay on.

I hope FOX can do what's good for once and lock in the cast and crew for two movie films to do a awesome X trilogy for once!

Ryguy88 - 5/22/2011, 8:00 AM
That's what's funny to me Marvel72, Fox is delivering (Financing, Vaughn is actually the one delivering) a most likely great CBM and you still refuse to accept it. You are delusional my friend. And that was one of the worst comebacks of all time, you just used the exact same one directed at you. Again, you crack me up Marvel72.

Juggy, when people were doing it before they saw or knew anything about it. Now it's time for those individuals to eat their words because you know if it was the other way around the same thing would be happening. Payback's a bitch.

OK I'll admit it. I was bashing this film and was going to boycott it in the hopes that if it fails Marvelwould get back the rights.

But I started to change my mind when I realised that Marvel Studios can barely put out two movies a year right now so getting back the franchise would probably mean no x-men movies for a while. So the only hope we have is for FOX to get their head out of their asses and make good movies.

Then came the trailers and they really looked good and gave me hope, although trailers cannot be relied upon.

But now with all these great reviews from people whose opinions and tastes are in line with ours I have completely turned around!!!

Thus I saw to all you bitches:

KNEEL BEFORE THE GREATNESS THAT IS MAGNETO AND THE GLORY OF THE X-MEN!!!!!
YOU ARE INSECTS (less than insects wrt the haters) BEFORE THE GOD THAT MAGNETO!!!!!
X-MEN RULE!!!!!
MARVEL FOR THE WIN AND FOR LIFE!!!!!

To finish I give you a quote from Magneto himself that is very appropriate for the current times; this comes from SECRET WARS #1:

Magneto (whilst effortlessly defeating multiple heroes):
"You dare threaten me! I stand above you all save perhaps THOR. He alone among you may be my equal!"

Peace. I'm out.
