Additional X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Concept Art Reveals Plans For 'Future Beast' & More

Joshua James Shaw, a film designer who worked on Bryan Singer's critically acclaimed X-Men: Days of Future Past, has released a ton of the concept art he did for the film. The art he released features some pretty cool alternate costume designs for Wolverine, Storm, Iceman, future Professor X, both future & past Magnetos, and a Trask soldier. However, his biggest reveal were designs for Kelsey Grammer's future Beast! Does this mean that an earlier version of the script had a bigger role for the character? Seems very likely, however a possible date conflict with Grammer's schedule may have had something to do with his absence. Fortunately for fans, Grammer was able to reprise his fan-favorite role as Beast in a brief cameo in one of the film's final scenes. Check out some of Shaw's work below and be sure to head over HERE to check out more!

@TheRationalNerd At the risk of being the first victim of your preemptive, facetious ruse, I have to agree. The sleeveless Wolverine costume and the second costume from the left for Storm are clear cut nods to the comic costumes, and, they wussed out...AGAIN. Similar, to the alternate ending for the The Wolverine, I'd rather not have my inner fanboy teased if they don't have the guts to go through with the superior options. This does not give me confidence for how Apocalypse will look, at all.

The fact they didn't give Storm the long hair :( :( The way her hair got shorter every film she should of been bald by X-Men DOFP.....first Storm was the best complete with African accent! "What happens to a Toad when it is struck by lightning...the same thing that happens to everything else" *surprise lightning bolt mother-trucker!*

I find it odd that they go out of their way to emphasize the visual appeal of Jennifer Lawrence with the minimalist approach to her costume, but they have to cover up Beast and Iceman with the same overused Matrix looks of every other characters. Less is definitely more in this case...

Storm with long hair looks awesome, but I think they wanted to make a homage to punk Storm, and the movie version was fine for that alone.

But Id love to see another present movie with Halle going back to long and wild looking Storm, thats the iconic version of the character.

And interesting to see an all white Iceman costume, adding some blue would have made it much cooler. Hopefully in the next movie all of them sport their classic costumes but with a modern twist

All of this great concept art and they decide to go with the blandest, cheap looking costumes for the movie. Why? It's been proven again and again by the Marvel Studio movies that if the script is up to snuff and the characters are interesting, you can make the costumes work. Just shows a complete lack of faith in the characters AGAIN on the part of Fox...but what's new.

Whaaaaaaa??? o_O LOL

But yeah, I completely see where you're coming from my brother. I always glimpse through my first book of the Apocalypse story arc and look at the costumes present within those pages. They honestly aren't too hard to adapt on the big screen. The costumes are actually apocalyptic clothing if anyone really notices. But the colors and suits speak more volumes than just "street gear with wears and tears". I don't expect the X-Men to have full fledged uniforms in the Apocalypse film depending on if Xavier's team wasn't already formed after the events of DoFP. However if it was I'm going to have a hard time believing an excuse as of why they don't have something that symbolizes their character.

@m0th3r

I would really hope so, like I just sent a video message to the guy who made these asking why on earth they didn't choose some if these designs. Very futuristic and character like. Mannnnnnnn, I'm just at a lost for words...

Real talk there. It's getting to the oh so cliché 4th qtr of the sports film proportions for this franchise. Apocalypse might be Singer's last shot to give the comic book X-Men fans a version that they were hoping for when he took the reigns over a decade ago. And I know some ppl are content with, or even prefer, the X-Men without costumes resembling their source material looks, but, at this point, even they should be loyal enough to the franchise to stomach the fanbody indulgence. It has yet to hurt any other modern CBM franchise, and, if these filmmakers are as talented as they are consistently being given credit for, they should be able to find a way to make it work tastefully instead of taking the easy way out...AGAIN.
