Deadline has their box office report up for the weekend with the first figures for both The Hunger Games and Wrath of the Titans bringing both good and bad news. The good news is for Lionsgate who are expected to reach the $250M mark with The Hunger Games this weekend. As a bonus, it's not only #1 at the box office, but also in the book and album charts in the US. Unfortunately, the news is not quite so good for Warner Bros. sequel, Wrath of the Titans. While it has taken the #2 spot (holding off competition from kid friendly release Mirror Mirror) and will more than likely make its projected $37M, this is far short of Clash of the Titans' $61.2M opening weekend back in 2010. However, it's expected to make back its $150M budget thanks to overseas takings. Despite a mixed reaction from critics, this isn't too bad of a start, although the likelihood a sequel is completely unknown at this point. They also mention that John Carter is likely to end its US run with with $70M. Here are the latest box office figures courtesy of the site.

My theater is still showing way more viewings of Hunger Games than the new releases, that has got to count for something.

I would have payed the extra $10+ to see Titans on the Imax-style screen in 3d, but they are still playing Hunger Games on it, so I just watched it in 2d.

HG was hideous and somewhat stupid and boring (compared to the hardcore Battle Royale) ; Wrath delivered, God of War the movie ! :D

I saw Hunger Games last nite. It wasnt a bad movie. But it wasnt great. i was in between on it. I feel Lawerence was amazing in her role. she is a beauty to reckoned with. I feel Liam Hemsworth recieved more credit for the film than what he deserved considering he was in the movie for about 15 minutes. 10 of those minutes were speaking scene and they werent even pivotol. JOhn Carter was by far better than this....
Hunger Games was nothing more than a glorified action adventure chick flick!

still gonna see Wrath. the trailer just kicks so much ass!!

but, this is what u got for hiring a guy who lesser qualified than the original director. i mean, Battle: LA was a failure..WHY in the world would hire the guy who directed it???!!! the studio people are just THAT stoopid, i guess.
