Christopher Nolan Rumored To Be In Talks To Helm JAMES BOND 24

While he's currently hard at work on Interstellar, fan favourite choice Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight Trilogy) has reportedly been approached by producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson about helming James Bond 24. Read on for details!

When Sam Mendes confirmed that he wouldn't be returning to helm the follow-up to last year's critically acclaimed Skyfall, many fans were left wondering who on Earth would be able to fill his shoes and deliver a Bond movie even a fraction as good. Perhaps that's why The Dark Knight Trilogy's Christopher Nolan is such a popular choice, and Mail Online is now reporting that the director is in early stage talks to take the reigns of James Bond 24. According to the site, "It’s early days, but informal talks have begun between Nolan, his representatives and the powers behind the James Bond pictures, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G .Wilson." However, as Interstellar has only just begun production, Nolan would be unable to begin work on a new 007 movie until 2015, meaning that the film more than likely wouldn't be released until 2017 at the earliest. By that time, star Daniel Craig will be approaching 50 and five years will have passed since the release of the first billion dollar instalment in the franchise, losing any momentum the studio may have gained. Of course, there's nothing to say Nolan couldn't direct James Bond 25...

Start production on 24 soon with another great director and then have Nolan do 25.
I'm not waiting til 2017 at the earliest for the next Bond movie.

Ehm...no

I don't wanna seen another "semi serious" movie.

I still am hoping for his involvement with Justice League, or grandfathering the entire DC movie-verse in some capacity.

Because entering dreams and traveling through space dimensions is totally realistic.

Not like Mendes totally was inspired by Nolan for Skyfall or anything.

Nolan hasn't the sense of humour of Bond,it will be a dark boring Bond.

I'd be interested to see what he does with it.

thewonderer beat me to it. I dont know how you can be complaining about the tone and realism, Skyfall had the exact same tone and feel to it. It was directly influenced by The Dark Knight. I guess everyone resorts to hating Nolan these days without thinking.

Only way I don't see this happening is his involvement in Interstellar, they're going to have to wait for him to be done with that before they get Bond. I don't know if they're going to go for it.

lol a bond movies taht has most of its elements ripeed off from anime (and not giving proper respect, royalties or credit) and featuring more holes than paris hiltons panties?

YES. HE'S BORN TO DO IT. Inception and TDKR were basically audition pieces for Bond. (Id love to see Michael Fassbender as the new Bond too, but not much chance of that)

Thing is, most of you hate Nolan entirely because of how much he's praised for his films. You hate his status, not his films which aren't by any means perfect either. Still, the vehement hate people have for him here makes no sense.

wonderer, he was pandering for money.
nolan should be taking notes from mendes and not the othetr way around.

the best movie and twist Nolan has ever delivered was in the prestiege and it was ripped off from andy kaufmans tony cliffton shenanigans. inception was a bad ripp off of paprika.

His batman films ...I guess i will concede that I dunno get where he was inspired by that from... he refused to make it even close to as god as the comics, but he had to make it better than batman and robin.
not setting the bar very high or low is lazy if you ask me.
he is like the nick cage or liam neeson of directors.
and dont give me that shit hes one of the best directors around, against who... JJ abrams and johnathan leibsman?
lol rate him against the best directors of all time.
he isnt special at all. he just seems that way now because most people are mouth breathers or because of how astonishingly horrible many directors (and the studio system who hires them) of this generation are.

Love his movies (excluding TDKR) but he would make bond to serious and he lacks in the action and fights department. He should stick to what he is best at.

I like Nolan as a filmmaker, but I have to agree with Tempo here - the guy can't do nuanced humor to save his life. Other than that, I just don't think he has the sensibilities for Bond. Other than that, the dialogue in even his best films is downright trite and boring at times; not the sort of thing you want for a Bond film. Leading ladies? Nope. One on one fistfights...? XD

Every one of his strengths plays to exactly what a Bond film shouldn't be. Pains me to say it because he's pretty damn good at what he does.

And on the topic of realism...please people, spare me. Let's be realistic and understand that Nolan hasn't made a realistic movie since Insomnia(one of his better films, I might add.) There was next to nothing realistic about his Bat trilogy; seems like people keep confusing realism with a lack of fanciful superpowers. Let me apparently be the first to let some of you know - they're not the same thing.

If you want to enjoy Die another Day watch Skyfall before it.

It was the most pointless Bond movie ever, MI6 chief running in jungle and then getting killed lol!

I repeat Chris Nolan has two problems: women and sense of humor
thewonderer
thewonderer - 5/17/2013, 4:29 AM
And the Nolan doesn't do comedy complaint makes no sense to me.

Batman Begins

- Alfred (pointing to tv) what would you call that? Bruce: Damn good television

- Bruce: Middle of the day Alfred, not very subtle. Alfred: The Lambourghini then? Much more subtle

- Dent: I hear they have a different name for me down at the NPD (or whatever). Gordon: I wouldn't know anything about that...

- (Selina disappears) Batman: So that's what that feels like

- Ras: I see you took my words about theatricality a bit literally...

And there's much more. Nolans Trilogy adapts a ton of direct events from Year One, Dark Knight Returns, Knightfall, No Mans Land, Long Holloween, etc, so please go on about how his movies are nothing like the comics.

And saying Nolan has strengths not of any Bond we've seen is A GOOD thing. Nobody wants the same bland ol Bond. We need Bond to go in new directions. And Nolan would be perfect for that.

And Mendes HIMSELF stated The Dark Knight is his inspiration for skyfall yet ckal disagrees? You can't disagree if he said it dude.
thewonderer
thewonderer - 5/17/2013, 4:31 AM
lol complaint about women too.

Not like Ellen Page in Inception was the character to help Cobb out of his misery or the most important one on the job.

Not like Mal completely controls Cobb and victimizes him the whole film.

Not like Rachel is in a strong profession and is willing to hold a taser to villains like Zsasz and Scarecrow.

Tell me more about weak women Nolan wrote?

ALSO You're telling me women are strong characters in Bond? Half the time he [frick]s them and they die because of it.

There goes Trudy showing his obsessed analytical dissection of Nolan. You must be convinced he isn't as good as you think. All the great directors come up with their own ideas, no stealing! Lmao.

Maybe he is gay. But i wonder Carl, if you too are a closeted homo? With an unnatural obsession with Nolan? Take on to know one Mr. Nose Breather. : )

He should direct bond 25. 24 should be given to someone else to direct..

Line him up for Bond 25. I don't want to wait that long, but I would love to see a Nolan Bond movie. Still waiting on that Spielberg Bond movie.

Given that time table, I can only see Nolan directing one after Bond 24, when he's available. That's just far too much time between Skyfall and a follow-up. Hire another director and during Bond 24's production and releasing try to iron out a deal with Nolan.

@malcopunch
Uhmmm what? The Bond reboot is popular because it has taken a more realistic route than its predecessors. Nolan has been known to use hyper-realistic and sci fi elements in his films(The Prestige duplicating machine, Inception)
Inception is a good example. There was really nothing realistic about the film other than the tone

also I don't think he have the time to direct it,now he has Interstellar...so sad that is no more direct by the master Steven Spielberg.

I think he'd be a better fit for BOND25 instead of the 24th, just because of the scheduling.
And with Mendes also not being able to do the 24th... Then who the hell should?! I have no clue.

ahhmynuts - 5/17/2013, 4:53 AM
i think that'd be a great pairing. the people behind bond obviously want to take him into a darker light and be taken seriously so i think nolan would be a great choice. with skyfall blowing the up box office i think they have no choice but to go with the guy whose ace is an action thriller. its time to take bond to another level
Supes17

Martin Campell mentioned Batman Begins as one of Casino Royale's inspirations and Mendes mentioned The Dark Knight. If people are ising his films why not let the director himself do it? Makes sense to me

and i think nolan wouldnt be in talks (even tho its early IF true) if he thought he wouldnt be able to do it. again if true, nolan would be an idiot to not take the next bond film
