Over the past few weeks, Darren Aronofsky has been casting for his anticipated Biblical epic Noah, based on the classic Bible story about Noah's Ark and also based on his graphic novel (which is now available in Europe). Some of the casting reports that came in, however, were a bit premature. One of them was the involvement of Jennifer Connelly, who was originally said to be in final negotiations to play Noah's wife, Naameh, in the film. Despite this, more reliable sources said that this news wasn't true (though she was definitely being considered, and that Julianne Moore was also up for the role).

Now, Variety has officially confirmed that Connelly is in negotiations to co-star in Noah. If discussions end well, she will re-team with star Russell Crowe (A Beautiful Mind) and director Darren Aronofsky (Requiem For A Dream). It's been said that Aronofsky has been interested in casting Connelly for some time now, though no official offer has been made until today (she even appeared in early table reads before Russell Crowe was attached to the project). Also cast in the movie are Emma Watson (Harry Potter), Logan Lerman (The Three Musketeers), Ray Winstone (Snow White And The Huntsman) and Douglas Booth (Romeo And Juliet). According to Variety, "in Aronofsky's take on the Biblical tale, Noah is a man who loves Earth and all of its animal inhabitants, but has become disillusioned with the way humans have treated their planet." Paramount Pictures and New Regency are distributing. Filming is expected to begin this summer.

Noah is set to sail into theaters March 28th, 2014.
