Joachim Rønning And Espen Sandberg To Helm PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5

Following reports last month that they were Disney's top choice to helm Pirates of the Caribbean 5, Deadline has now confirmed that Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg will indeed direct the movie after the studio, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and star Johnny Depp all signed off on the choice. A deal is quickly being made and it is thought that shooting will begin either later this year or early January 2014. Jeff Nathanson (Men in Black 3) recently polished up the script for the studio, and the fact that Rønning and Sandberg have a significant amount of buzz behind them thanks to their Best Foreign Language Oscar-nominated film Kon-Tiki, means that the studio are very confident with their choice. Remember, Rob Marshall seemed like an odd selection for Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, but that movie went on to gross over $1 billion worldwide.

Dead Man's Chest was the only good Pirates film. The others were shitty. Until I see a trailer for this one, I have no reason to believe it won't be shitty as well.

I guess it doesn't take alot of experience to helm a summer blockbuster. You could make some video on Youtube these days and studios would be lining up at your door offering you franchises.

I was about to let this franchise die, but I've only heard great things about Kon-Tiki, I'm both worried and looking forward to this - they seem to be too great talents to be involved in this milked-out franchise, but they may just give a terrific fifth entry, judging from their previous work. I won't say much more than that, but if they were the people to handle the franchise from the very first place, then it'd be something entirely different - in a good way - I reckon.

Only thing Rob Marshall added in Pirates franchise is Pelepe Cruz!

Even if a statue named as director directing a pirates film; it'll still earn a ton!
& I'm happy!
Not a huge fan of ANY films but JACK SPARROW!
Will see any film with him! & Johnny Depp in makeup (even though its probably not gona be a good film)!

I do wanted Snow White & Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, but these dudes are fine!

Real "Directors" of Pirates film after the 1st one were: DISNEY, Jere Buchimer & Johnny Depp!!

1 was good. 2 & 3 were great. 4 was a boring mess. Hopefully 5 will at least be decent with these two behind it, though I was rather disappointed with Kon-Tiki.

I get a kick out of some of you comic book nerds who try to be so hilarious by mocking any movie that's not a comic book movie with your stupid gifs. You guys should get out of the house more often. There are other great things in life besides CBM's, including fun flicks like POTC.

I'm definitely going to see Pirates 5. Maybe not a quality, quality film necessarily but a true blockbuster.

The only pirate movie I want to see is a R rated Pirate Latitudes movie. But sadly I know it won't happen and even if it did it would not make anywhere near as much as a POTC movie.

How can you not like it? it's the same people who complain about a franchise getting stagnant, but when they try something new, they bitch about raping continuity, just like Terminator Salvation (which rocked).

As long as they have new writers than I'm on board. The last 2 Pirate films were train wrecks. I do find On Stranger Tides better than Worlds End but that's not saying much seeing how that movie was pure crap.
