Earlier this month, it was reported that Darren Aronofsky
was wanting Russell Crowe (
Gladiator,
Man Of Steel) to star in his Biblical epic
Noah, which also has a graphic novel adaptation in the works. Now,
Variety reports that the actor is now in negotiations to star in the film. If discussions go well, Crowe will play the Biblical figure best known for building an Ark so he and his family could survive a worldwide flood.
Variety notes that a deal is being worked on actively, prepping the movie for a July shoot. Aronofsky worked on the script with Ari Handel and John Logan, while Paramount/New Regency is distributing. Also reported a couple weeks ago was that Liam Neeson was being considered for a role (potentially the villainous role which was revealed a while ago); whether or not he will star alongside Crowe has yet to be determined. Check back for more casting news surrounding the movie soon.
Darren Aronofsky's
Noah is planned to begin production this July, potentially for a Fall 2013 release.
