Official note from
Deadline:
Elementary, from CBS TV Studios and studio-based Timberman/Beverly Prods., is described as a modern take on the cases of the pipe-smoking private eye created by Arthur Conan Doyle, with Sherlock now living in New York City. Doherty wrote the script and is executive producing the project with Sarah Timberman & Carl Beverly.
The first time we heard about the CBS modern take on the character was back in September of last year, when the studio bought the rights for the show. Having this official announcement today come as no surprise after the success that the season two of BBC'
Sherlock had this month, specially with its season finale, not to forget the debut of the second Guy Ritchie's movie for the character,
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, which was released last month.
