I'll just skip the nonsense and get down right to business. SO here are my top 5 movies that came out this summer! Now keep in mind these aren't the best films of the year, just this summer.
5. Man of Steel
I didn't know what I was expecting to be honest. I just wanted a good movie. Not only did a get a good movie, but I got a great one. Unlike Iron Man 3 and the Wolverine, Man of steel doesn't try to switch things up with some weak plot twist or change its tone by turning itself into a video game in the third act. the movie felt consistent and Henry Cavill was the perfect choice for clark.
4. Pacific Rim
Again, a movie that impressed me. The first trailer that was released long ago turned me off, but as time krept closer to the release date, it grew more intrigued. Not only did Pacific rim surprise me, it blew me away. Guillermo Del Toro is a great visual director that knows how to splice a solid story with solid characters into his films. Pacific Rim is one of the best movies of the year so far, and I think it'll be on my top 10 list at the end of the year.
3. Only God Forgives
You may not have seen it, but you've definitely heard of it. No movie has ever split the film community like this one has before. Winding-Refn gives us a haunting tale of a man wanting forgiveness from the criminal world he lives in. It may not be as accessible or good as Drive, but its the perfect love it or hate it movie, and I loved it. If you hate it, I completely understand. Its not for everyone.
2. Star Trek Into Darkness
One of my most anticipated movies of the year, Star Trek Into Darkness Exceeded my expectations, blowing its predecessor out of the water. Filled with stunning visuals, near perfect direction, edge-of your seat tension and great acting from its big leads, this star trek movie is my new favorite, one I'd rank over several Star Wars movies even. I can't wait for the third film.
1.Elysium
I knew what I was expecting for this movie, many people went in with the wrong expectations, and that pisses me off. That said, I loved Elysium. It was a great sci-fi movie with great social commentary. A lot of people went in expecting district 9 when they shouldn't have. Elysium is the best original film of the year, and looking at this fall line-up, i think it'll be at the top spot for awhile.
There ya have it folks-my top five summer movies. So comment and let me know what your top five favorite movies of the summer were!
