As PaulRom reported Wednesday, Paul Giamatti wasn't so sure about the status of The Goon, an animated film based on the Dark Horse comic of the same name. He stated: “I have no idea what the hell happened. I asked and no one knows. I guess they just ran out of money.” After this, someone asked Eric Powell, creator of The Goon and writer of the screenplay, about the status and Giamatti's quote.

In a pair of tweets, Powell said:

“Last I spoke with Fincher & Blur [Studios], they were gearing up for more meetings to try to find financing for the film. It’s not dead until Fincher & Blur come to me & say they are done.”

While it isn't good news that one of the main actors for the film has no clue what's going on, comfort can be taken in the fact that The Goon isn't completely dead in the water as of yet. While it looks like it won't be coming to a theatre near you for a while, it is at least still being worked on.

Goon fans can at least enjoy some footage from the 2010 ComicCon.
