Tintin has received critical acclaim and international box office success, with a strong showing stateside which makes it hard for Paramount and Sony not to start on a sequel. The question, as Bell himself puts it, is not "if" but "when." The majority of the cast is locked into many different projects for the next year or more.
The sequel would have Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg switching roles. Jackson would write the sequel with Spielberg producing.
When asked about the sequel Bell stated:
"They're writing it. They're writing it,everyone is really busy. Steven is shooting Lincoln, not literally," Bell joked. "He's filming Lincoln, and Peter is doing something else called The Hobbit, I don't know."
Bell also touches on the buzz surrounding a possible Oscar nod for co-star Andy Serkis:
"He needs it. He deserves it, and we need to kind of grow up as an acting community and realize that it is a technology that is defined by actors."
The first one was very good, and the animation/mo-cap was breathtaking. I personally would be willing to wait for a sequel, and the prospect of Peter Jackson writing it makes it even more thrilling. What say you? Ready for a Tintin sequel? Any new thoughts on the Serkis Oscar buzz? Sound off below.
