Marvel made an announcement at the MIPTV that a new Spider-Man cartoon will be coming our way in fall of next year. The series is set to air on Disney XD. Little is known about the show and there have been no comments regarding to whether it would be its own show or a continuation to The Spectacular Spider-Man. There is no confirmation on whether this will be based off Brian Bendis`s hit comic series(chances are it will be) due to The Spectacular Spider-Man already having many similarities to the comic series. A teaser image has been released for the show.



bleedthefreak16: I just recently started to watch the episodes from Spectacular Spider-Man and hope it is very much like it. Plus, I confess to being a big Ultimate Spider-Man fan(that's right LEEE I said it) and hope the show is based off of the series.

I've liked all of the Spiderman cartoons over the years, even dating back to the original series from the 60's. Although I'm not the biggest Ultimates fan, I'm sure I'll like this one too.

I still want season 3 of Spectacular Spider-Man,though.

I'd watch that, if I had cable. Oh and @ecks, he's gonna say it anyway. That's just how Lee is. I've been reading the Ult. Spider-man HC books and I must say they are very good. I'm only on volum 6 so far, but it's a great read that keeps me interested. Hopefully the cartoon will be as good, and the movie as well.

Bring on the reboot, unless it sucks, then I don't want it!!

Well seeing how Spectacular Spider-Man was so close to Ultimate Spider-Man I'm pretty sure this means no more Spectacular Spider-Man. On the upside this could give us some insight on what the movie will look like. Should be good.

I'm a fan of anything that promotes a new generation of comics fans!!! That's why I have no problem with Ultimate Comics or even "The Batman-Brave and Bold" cartoon. Sure, it's not aimed at me, but it's good for the industry in general.

@LEEE- Knew you'd like that. I'm one that feels that they should have "revamped" the current line-up and made a helluva good 4th film instead of reboot. However, I'm willing to see where the reboot goes before I pass judgement. Sorry man.

Oh, crud. "Ultimate Spider-Man"? I don't think so. This news would have been soooooo much better if it had said, "The Spectacular Spider-Man: Season Three". That is easily the best Spidey animated series to date, and having this as like its replacement is disappointing to me. But since I don't get the Disney XD channel anyway, it doesn't really matter, does it?

see here's my problem... ULTIMATE UNIVERSE!... DISNEY!... it's a contradiction. The ultimate universe is a dark place, heroes and villains die all the time, mostly in gruesome ways, and it is filled with adult themes. There is no way this show will pay it's due respects to the comic as long as it is on disney's network.

With all things considered though, WB's Justice League Unlimited was very much intriguing and along the lines of the comics and still kid friendly... take a look at this clip

I love Ultimate Spider-man, but if this means the end of Spectacular Spider-man, I'm pissed. I hope they do the sensible thing and make this a continuation of Specatcular, or at least keep the same creative team and actors. One of the reason Spectacular is good is because it already takes a lot from Ultimate. Why start over when you already have something very good?

That's nice and all, but I'd rather have Spectacular Spider-Man back. Why won't Disney/Marvel just pick up the Spectacular license that Sony dropped? Would've been perfect for them. Instead of starting a new show, just bring back one that a lot of fans really liked (which means it has a fanbase) and already became established. They're taking a risk with Ultimate. There's a chance the show won't be good, and might not even bring in as many viewers.

Hm. Does anyone think it might be possible that an Ultimate Spider-Man show is coming out to get the young fanbase used to the different take of the Spidey mythos (or at least acknowledge the Ultimate take) so that the Spider-Man movie reboot can be based on the Ultimate universe without any movie-goers going "Wait, what the hell is this? That's not how the Spidey story goes"??

The poster depicts Nova, Iron Fist, and Nick Fury hinting that this Spider-man is part of a larger Marvel universe. Spectacular wasn't really allowed to do that. I'm still pissed, but on the bright side, maybe this is the beginning of a new Marvel animated universe.
