Michael Peña On ANT-MAN Secrecy And Edgar Wright; T.I. Talks More About Mystery Role

"Kevin Feige is killing it!" - Michael Peña discusses his experience so far working on a Marvel movie while his Ant-Man co-star T.I. talks about his role and how he might have been typecast. Check it out!

When Clifford "T.I." Harris visited The Breakfast Club to promote his new album, the rapper/actor talked briefly about his mystery role in Marvel's Ant-Man, for which he was just spotted filming in Atlanta earlier this week. "I play [Ant-Man's] homeboy," he reiterated before adding that his character is part of a crew. "It's four of us and each of us is an ex-con, including Ant-Man." When it was suggested that he had been typecast given his background, Harris replied, "Not really; you could say so, but I'm actually more reformed in the movie than I am in real life." In addition to T.I.'s character, the "ex-con" crew probably consists of Paul Rudd's Scott Lang, and the character to be played by David Dastmalchian. Another potential crew member is Michael Peña, whose role in the movie is also a mystery. While promoting the upcoming Fury movie, Peña talked a bit about Ant-Man and praised a couple aforementioned co-stars. "So far, it's really really good working on the movie," he told We Got This Covered in a video interview. "Paul Rudd is amazing [and] I know he's gonna be awesome as Ant-Man. David Dastmalchian [...] is a really good actor and he's really funny in [Ant-Man]. I can't wait to keep shooting." In separate interview with Comic Book Resources, Michael Peña had vented about Marvel's high level of secrecy. "Dude! It’s a machine, man!" he said of the experience so far. "And I understand now because, like, in order for me to get a script, I have to sign stuff. Somebody’s got to deliver it straight to me, and I can only have one copy. They’re very, very like protective of their scripts. And I didn’t quite understand why. And then I’ve seen like a couple articles on how a movie script gets leaked, especially for Marvel, then the movie doesn’t do as well. Because it gets out –everybody knows the story. And with a Marvel movie in particular, you want to be surprised. You want to be awed by something. And it doesn’t really work because it’s always kind of a mystery. So if you know everything about the murder mystery, it’s not gonna be as exciting."

Last but not least, Michael Peña also talked briefly with Movie Fanatic, where he discussed former Ant-Man director Edgar Wright. "I read the script with Edgar Wright in the beginning. It was really cool," he said. "He’s another guy that when you talk to him and you realize his vision elevates what was already awesome on the page. Then, it didn’t work out with him. But, I’m still on it," Pena enthused. "It’s that Marvel way of doing movies, which is really interesting. Kevin Feige is killing it." Expect more set pics as filming continues in Atlanta. What do you think?

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Directed by Peyton Reed, Ant-Man stars Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Corey Stoll, Evangeline Lilly, David Dastmalchian, Michael Pena, Bobby Cannavale, Abby Ryder Fortson, Judy Greer, Wood Harris, John Slattery and Gregg Turkington with multi-hyphenate T.I., and the film will release July 17, 2015
