BOX OFFICE: ANT-MAN Stomps On The Competition In The UK With $6.2 Million Haul
Ant-Man ended up earning a solid $57.2 million in North America this past weekend, and Marvel's Phase 2 finale has gotten off to similarly strong start in the United Kingdom. Hit the jump for details on that and all the latest on how well the movie is performing...
Minions has been at the top of the UK box office for three weeks now, but Ant-Man finally dethroned the animated feature this past weekend with $6.2 million. That may not sound like a lot (especially when compared to how the movie fared in North America), but it's a higher debut than both Captain America: The First Avenger ($4.6 million) and The Incredible Hulk ($5.1 million).
Inside Out and Southpaw open in the UK this Friday which could pose a problem for Ant-Man, but it's now the school holidays, so parents have had the entire week to take their kids to see the latest Marvel release. It's performing well everywhere, so here's hoping we get news on a sequel in the near future! Be sure to check out my review of the movie by clicking here. Have you seen it?
