Michael Douglas being cast as Hank Pym in the upcoming Ant-Man movie confirmed what we'd been hearing for a very long time - that Hank would have been operating as Ant-Man in the 60s in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, much to the dissapointment of some fans. Well, now we have official confirmation thanks to the Marvel Solicits, also revealing we can expect a two-part tie-in comic in February!

Not much, but at least we have this detail confirmed following hefty re-writes of the script after Edgar Wright's departure! So, what do you think? Sound off below!

Ant-Man is directed by Peyton Reed, and stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang / Ant-Man, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van-Dyne, and Corey Stoll as Darren Cross / Yellowjacket, and will be released on July 17th, 2015!

I'm more bummed that Patrick Wilson is gone, even more than Edgar...really like him as an actor and was hoping he'd be Pym all along...

Back in the 60s...you could smack a woman on the ass...and instead of a sexual harassment lawsuit...they would merely send the both of you to HR...so they could explain to her that you didn't mean anything by it.

After the movie they should come out with a series of Ant-Man in the 60's

And then they would make the two of you hug...and during that time you could smell her hair and lightly touch her back side again.

So... no geriatric Pym rant on how it's non-canon and they don't know the character??

How dare Hank be old! Do they even care? What is source material anyway, right? Marvel suck! This movie sucks! I don't want Hank on life support for the whole movie! Wrinkles! How dare they! Marvel Studios? More like, Marvel Suck-dios! Scott 'Sucks' Lang! Hope sucks - we want Jan! Where's the goddamn dance off!!??

@sKeemAn Corey Stoll was always Yellowjacket. Wilson was supposed to play Willliam Cross, but after he had to leave due to scheduling conflicts (filming BONE TOMAHAWK w/ Kurt Russell!), Marvel/Mckay's draft wrote him out (along with two minor minor characters).

Its a shame that it's 60's Hank Pym rather than modern Pym because that means we dont see Hank and Janet in a future Avengers team line up, just Scott Lang.

I'm still looking forward to the movie (although still disappointed about Wright leaving) - but I hope if it's a success they consider making a prequel movie set in the Cold War with Hank as Ant-Man.

I can't get behind this movie I hope it does well just because Ant-Man deserves a good box office but the movie is horrible without Edgar plus I still Don't get the whole old man Pym shit they've thought up. we complain about little changes in other movies and this movie just literally [frick]ed every single form of source material and we seem to be ok with it.

When I read people still bitching about an old Hank Pym -it makes me wonder are you giving a bye to studios like FOX who are doing the exact same thing? FOX has mutants like Havok in the '60's and Quicksilver in the '70's. How old are those characters in the current timeline? Old age Hank Pym IS Edgar's vision. He hired the actors. Edgar's movie ALWAYS had a different Hany Pym than the comics. Feige has said that Avengers/Avengers: AOU were altered to fit that vision.

So when people bitch about this movie due to Hank and still lament about Edgar leaving -or don't say anything about FOX altering their characters to fit story than I see that as people bitching and whining because they can. Yeah, I was upset about hearing about Hank too -but I got over it. Now the only thing I worry about is how the Wasp is handled because I do want a current timeline Wasp alongside Ant-Man.
