KICK-ASS D.P. To Film THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON
Confirming Marvel's the Avengers' original director of photography will not return behind the lens for the highly-anticipated sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy's Ben Davis has been attached! Check it out!

It appears that The Avengers director of photography Seamus McGarvey, who just wrapped Godzilla and is currently shooting Fifty Shades of Grey, will not return for Joss Whedon's 2015 Marvel sequel. Likely due to filming taking place in the U.K. this time around, cinematographer Ben Davis will instead be behind the lens on The Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Ben Davis is a member of The British Society of Cinematographers, and he's best known for his frequent collaboration with director Matthew Vaughn on Kick-Ass, Stardust and Layer Cake. However, it would seem that his latest work as director of photography for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is what landed him the Age of Ultron gig. I asked Guardians director James Gunn if that was the case and he replied: “I did everything I could to let Joss know how great I thought [Davis] was. And, of course, Joss was able to see first hand what an amazing job Ben was doing on Guardians.” Gunn also took to his Spring.me to lengthily explain the role of cinematographers, briefly praising Ben Davis. Anyhow, what do you think?

So far starring Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Cobie Smulders, Jeremy Renner, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, and Samuel L. Jackson and James Spader, The Avengers: Age of Ultron is directed by Joss Whedon from his screenplay, and is slated to begin production in March 2014 and the sequel is scheduled to release on May 1, 2015.
