Scarlett Johansson Talks AVENGERS AGE OF ULTRON; Script Has "Glass-Cutting Sense of Humor"

Declaring preparation for The Avengers: Age of Ultron her main focus right now, Scarlett Johansson gives our first impression of Joss Whedon's script for the Marvel sequel, offering nothing but praise.

Scarlett Johansson is currently taking part in reshoots for Captain America: The Winter Soldier and she has promotion for that film to look forward to, but the actress says most of her attention right now is on preparation for her fourth turn as Black Widow in next year's The Avengers: Age of Ultron.
“No, I’m busy planning Avengers 2 right now... that’s my main focus,” she told Parade when they asked if she had started plans for her wedding. “I’ve never been a big planning kind of person. I’d never share it with anybody, but I think more than anything I feel really fortunate to have had this amazing year professionally.” When asked what to expect from Age of Ultron, “Oh boy!” enthuses Johansson. “Well, we can expect the Avengers. Joss, again, is back, wrote the script, and is directing. I think the script is dark and it’s dry, it’s got this amazing one-liner, glass-cutting sense of humor. Obviously the script is very cerebral. It doesn’t lose that exciting comic book aspect that people enjoyed in the first film, but it’s smart and it feels like the next installment. It doesn’t feel like a rehashing, it feels like these characters are moving forward, plotlines are moving forward. It’s deep and I think that’s why people really respond to the Marvel universe, because the films are fun and exciting and have all that flashy stuff, but there’s a gravity to them. People can expect that gravity this time around.” What do you think?

The Avengers: Age of Ultron stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Cobie Smulders, Jeremy Renner, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, with Samuel L. Jackson and James Spader. The anticipated film is set to release on May 1, 2015.

great-here come the humor haters in 3...2...1, they will ignore whatever else she said about the script being cerebral and dark which whedon said that the film is alittle bit darker and has a more of a science fiction element to it due to Ultron

Obvious flame-baiting putting the "humor" line in the title. You know comic book fans don't read the articles.

Guys calm down. Avengers was funny to and had plenty of ".. amazing one-liner, glass-cutting sense of humor." You shouldn't just emphasize on that, she also said it was dark and dry so....

@DrDoom "I'm starting to think that people mention humor when asked about Marvel scripts just to inspire the 'humor haters' lol"

I think so too.lol

You know, for all the people who hate humor in Marvel, you all sure do spout a bunch of one lines, make sexual innuendos, and post a lot of memes. It's good enough in your every day life, but in a movie it's Satan's spawn?

Sounds like some people got a PhD in Double Standard from the Jelly School!

Id love a darker Avengers sequel.

But we all know how dark Marvel can go, so I wont get a darker and more adult oriented movie, lol.

As long as its a bit more complex with cool new stuff and great action by all, including Pietro and Wanda, it will be fine.

If you seen Whedon's other works(Serenity, Cabin In The Woods, Astonishing X-Men) you should know that he's great with humor.

The Avengers have always had a sense of humor dynamic between them, so does the Marvel Universe as a whole. People need to stop complaining about comedic aspects, such as Iron Man 3, there was a ton of humor in it, but it worked.

Can't wait!! I, for one, love all the humor in the MCU. This sets the MCU apart from the DCCU, which doesn't use humor. It's not better or worse, just different. I like the darker DCCU too, but I do like the lighter tone of the MCU. That was always Stan Lee's trademark - his humor.

Oh Noes! Avengers 2 is clearly going to be rammed full of banana skin gags and probably end in a huge custard pie fight. It's a disaster!

"It’s deep and I think that’s why people really respond to the Marvel universe".... LOL. Marvel movies are about as deep as a kiddy pool. Hopefully she means that the Marvel universe is deep and not that their movies are deep. After watching Iron man 2, 3, and Thor 2, I have lost faith. Hopefully Cap 2 can pull me back.

Black comedy is definitely the best. Comedy is good but when it's a certain type. Bayformer esque comedy? [frick] that. Dry/Black comedy. Good stuff.
