The Mad Titan
Thanos is coming to collect what's his this May in
Avengers: Infinity War, and not all of Earth's Mightiest Heroes will be making it out alive after the concluding chapter in the currently untitled
Avengers 4. Whether it's because of expiring contracts or story decisions, many of the characters you know and love won't live to fight another day. We've come up with the top 10 that are most likely to be on the chopping block, based on the latest trailer and past news!

Wong
He may be a master of the mystic arts, but
Wong's skill in magic might not save him from Thanos' might. Given that
Doctor Strange's journey has just begun, it's safe to assume that the hero himself won't perish, but Wong's death could open up the door to Scarlet Witch joining Strange as his prodigy (as many fans have theorized).
Nebula
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to release shortly after
Avengers 4, and with director James Gunn confirming he will use the film to close out the team's story, it seems unlikely that any of the main roster will die. With that said,
Vol. 2 saw Nebula vowing to destroy her adoptive father Thanos, and what better way to motivate
Gamora than the death of her sister?
Spider-Man
Ok, hear us out on this one. Yes,
Spider-Man has a confirmed future in the MCU, that's a fact; his own solo sequel is set to commence right as
Avengers 4 ends. But of course, this wouldn't mean he can't die somewhere in between and resurrected at a later point. The trailer shows the wall-crawler getting a hefty chokeslam from Thanos, and the leaked Comic-Con footage has him weakly apologizing to Tony in the aftermath. Could Spider-Man perish in between films? It would certainly explain why Tony Stark appears devastated in the trailer.
Hawkeye
He may be a "founding" Avenger, but
Hawkeye has only recently found his place in the MCU, mostly by acting as a mentor to Scarlet Witch. While set pictures have hinted at the marksman taking on the identity of
Ronin (like the comics), it seems perfectly reasonable that a bow and arrow may not be enough against the army of Thanos.
War Machine
It's been a tough road for James Rhodes.
Captain America: Civil War saw the Avenger paralyzed from the waist down after being accidentally shot out of the sky by the Vision. Thankfully, Tony Stark helped him get back in action with bionic support for his legs, and the Infinity War trailer sees him back in the fray as
War Machine. The possibility of Rhodes meeting his end seems about half-and-half, as there's always a chance he could succeed his best friend as Iron Man, just like in the comics.
Vision
A wave of mystery surrounds
The Vision and whether or not the android Avenger can survive without the Mind Stone in his forehead. The trailer and leaked Comic-Con footage have played coy with expectations; Vision does have the Stone removed by the Children of Thanos, and some footage has shown him in a cage without the stone in his head. Another shot shows him with a human appearance, though the glow from the stone remains. While it's possible he survives, Vision is most certainly vulnerable.
Black Widow
Despite Scarlett Johansson's eagerness to tackle a
Black Widow solo film, the chances of it happening seem to grow dimmer by the day, and with the actress's contract up after the next two
Avengers films so are the chances of her making it to see another sunrise. Natasha's relationship with Bruce Banner will seemingly continue into Infinity War, but will it end (again) in tragedy? Time will tell.
Loki
Things don't look bright for the God of Mischief.
Loki can be glimpsed handing the Tesseract over to an unseen foe in the
Infinity War trailer (signs point to it being The Ebony Maw). We know things don't end well for the Asgardians, who lie dead abaord the ruins of their ship. While
Thor ends up with the
Guardians of the Galaxy and the
Hulk crash lands back on Earth, it's likely that Loki will meet the same fate as his people, especially given Thanos' threat from the first
Avengers film.
Tony Stark
The fate of the MCU's founding father has always been in question.
Robert Downey Jr. IS
Iron Man, and has become so synoymous with the role that it's hard to imagine anyone else playing him at this point. With that being said, the actor has been vocal about hanging it up when the time is right, and what better way to bring Tony Stark's heroic (and self-destructive) story to an end than by saving the universe from its greatest threat?
Captain America
It's been well-known for some time that
Chris Evans extended his expiring contract to appear in
Avengers 4, which is probably the biggest signal that
Captain America will fall to Thanos by the end of the Infinity Saga (despite Evans going on record to say he'll play the character as long as Marvel wants him). Of course, beyond the obvious, it makes sense for the Sentinel of Liberty to have a noble moment of self-sacrifice, not only to save the universe, but to redeem himself for his mistakes.
