AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Writers Tease The Inclusion Of The Guardians Of The Galaxy

It's been confirmed that Star-Lord will be making an appearance in Avengers: Infinity War, and now, according to writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, his fellow Guardians might be joining him.

Ever since the announcement that Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) would be making his way back to Earth to join the Avengers in the fight against the Mad Titan Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, fans have been wondering if any of his fellow outlaws would be joining him. Just a few weeks ago, Infinity War writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely teased the inclusion of Rocket Raccoon in the film, and now it looks like the whole team by joining the fight.

During a live interview with Nerdist, Markus and McFeely were asked whether we would see a Guardians-Avengers crossover, and if they were interested in having such a crossover happen.  "Certainly interested in it," replied Markus. "Let me put it this way. You know who owns that gauntlet, right? And you know who's in another movie? His kids are in that movie." Stephen McFeely then went on to say that "It's a big universe.” to which Markus subtly added, "You do the math!"

It seems fair to say that Markus and McFeely are including the Guardians of the Galaxy in Avengers: Infinity War, but they just can't come right out and say it yet. What do you think about the possibility of all the Guardians joining the Avengers?

Avengers: Infinity War will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, and is being written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Part One hits theaters May 4th, 2018, and Part Two May 3rd, 2019.

I do hope Gamora and Nebula both play a huge role in Infinity War. They're Thanos' daughters, afterall.

At the very least for part 2 we'll get everyone, part 1 is a different story, however, that will definitely be way more Avengers centric.

I think we all knew they were all going to be included. The real question is if the Defenders are joining the party.

If this is supposed to be a secret, it's the worst kept one in Marvel history.

More Rocket is always good.

I know it's practically confirmed through sheer logic, but I want SOME form of confirmation that Spidey and Black Panther will appear. I mean, I know they will, but there's a slight possibility (VERY SLIGHT) that one may not appear. Especially Spidey, because of all the rights and what not.

All I absolutely want is lots of Cap screentime. Dude deserves the utmost respect.

@BatmanHeisenberg - Bring on Chris Evans in a Nomad solo movie. Serpent Society. Werewolf Cap. Whatever it takes.

@Spock0Clock - I mean, IDK if that's gonna happen. In between Civil War and Infinity War, it'd make perfect sense. He's a man on the run, and he has lost his Cap title. But after? I'm not so sure. I'm starting to think that during the Infinity War movies he gains back the shield and Captain America identity by Stark.

But I could totally see the beginning being Cap, Wanda, Falcon (maybe Hawkeye, he could be with his family) and also maybe Ant-Man and the Wasp working as a covert unit of some sort. Cap could be Nomad then.

@Spock0Clock - Nah Skip Nomad and have Steve and Clint in action as The Captain and Ronin.

The one thing I absolutely want to be avoided is characters to feel unnecessary to the plot. All the Avengers and Guardians in it? Absolutely, it would work 100%. But The Defenders and the AoS team? Unnecessary. Awesome? Yes. But completely unnecessary.

@BatmanHeisenberg - Well, jury is out on AoS. Right now, nobody (including the AoS writers) know what their deal will be by 2018. And if a big battle happens to be in New York, it's plausible to imagine Luke Cage and Iron Fist to rush in if they're full on Heroes for Hire by then. Jessica Jones and Daredevil are more of a question mark. I can imagine Matt running headlong into a chitauri-esque invasion, but I don't know about running home, putting on his suit, and then running across town for a big team-up.

All of that Defenders stuff is moot if the conflict happens literally anywhere else. I'm pretty sure we'll be getting Quake, Fitz, and Simmons in the movies once Agents is off the air. They are compelling and interesting relics of the canon. Worthy of a cameo, if nothing else, by some future Marvel scribe as fan service. But as long as there is coordination required with ABC, there's basically no chance of that.

@Spock0Clock - I really hope Downey and Evans stay long enough for a Coulson reveal, and Fury is around to see it happen. It would really be a great reveal and show the Avengers how the real reason they're together is a lie. I understand how unlikely it is, but I would absolutely love to see it.

Yeah, I honestly see little reason for the Defenders in the movies at this point. It literally is not needed, and I imagine New York is going to be in it so little that it will be moot. Would I like it? Absolutely. But it is in no way needed.

Not surprised they're including the entire team. Seems like a no-brainer. Rocket Raccoon and Groot are both fan favorites.
