AVENGERS: Michael Waldron Is Working On Both THE KANG DYNASTY And SECRET WARS For Marvel Studios

Despite reports that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness writer Michael Waldron has been fired from Avengers: Secret Wars, Loki's executive producer says he's working on that and The Kang Dynasty.

At this stage, it's been pretty much confirmed that Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania writer Jeff Loveness is no longer penning Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

Various scoopers have claimed Michael Waldron, who wrote Loki season 1 and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, is said to have been similarly removed from Avengers: Secret Wars, but one of Loki's executive producers has today said otherwise. In an interview with ComicBook.com, Kevin Wright dropped the reveal after being asked whether Jonathan Majors' legal issues changed anything we saw in the finale.

"No, nothing affected our finale," he confirmed. "I think I said elsewhere earlier when the show was first coming out, the story that is on screen is the one that we set out to make remarkably so no one was coming down telling us we had to connect or set up anything for the future. It was sort of finish our story that we started."

"As far as where it's all going, I can't say and not because I am being coy, we're not a part of those projects," Wright said in regards to the next Avengers movies. "What I would say is, I mean, I know Michael Waldron is working on them and he loves obviously this world as he helped create it."

"And no, I mean the threat that we establish at the end of this is Multiversal war will come. Sylvie is just saying, 'Let us have a chance.' So I hope that people continue to run with that because I would love to see what that story is."

This is the first we've heard about Waldron working on The Kang Dynasty, though we perhaps shouldn't be surprised after Marvel Studios and Disney were impressed enough by his MCU work to sign the writer to a lucrative overall deal. That was once going to include a Star Wars movie, though Kevin Feige recently confirmed it's no longer happening

Wright may be working on outdated information, of course, and it's possible Waldron is just shaping the stories - given his past Multiverse experience - before other screenwriters come in to expand on that.

Then again, he might just be the sole credited writer on both Avengers movies!

We'll have to wait and see. What we do know is Marvel Studios is currently making some sweeping changes to the Multiverse Saga following a mixed response from fans to recent projects and Majors' ongoing legal issues.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 1, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars set to follow on May 7, 2027.

As someone who enjoyed both Loki and MoM (although, in case of the latter, Raimi's directing did a lot of heavy-lifting), I welcome this.

@FinnishDude -
Waldron is a good writer. Loki, taken as a whole, is mind bending. MoM was a good movie beginning to end. Give me a writer who can work with a director and it's pure gold.

I think they should hire the writers of "Everything Everywhere All at Once" if they really want to get all out in multiverse angle.

@Gabimaru - Daniels are great but they’re too original to ever do such a thing and too out there for Marvel to ever hire.

@Gabimaru - That was the multiverse done correctly.

@TheLobster - IF kevin really want to get out of the stale formulaic identity of MCU. they should hire these writers and give them freedom to make an unconventional avengers films. that's the way to go i think.

I’m cool with that , i enjoyed both Loki S1 and MoM (moreso the former then the latter)….

Considering the extensive rewrites the movie went through , I thought the script for MoM was decent at the least (even with the controversial SW stuff) and I liked how Waldron used the multiverse in both of his MCU works as a way for the characters such as Loki & Strange to confront aspects of themselves which i think is the best way to deal with that concept

I hope that continues to an extent in these Avenger films.

Think both movies need atleast two writers each. No way one writer can handle so many characters. Either wanna see Eric Martin or McKenna & Sommers be added to the writing team, since they have the best written multiverse stories under their belts

So actual Marvel exec nukes Josh and Mark’s favorite scooper’s supposed street cred

It’s like everyone simultaneously experienced a matrix moment and managed to collectively forget the ‘nosy neighbor’/‘boner’ trope on WandaVision that Feige specifically targeted at online influencers/rumor mongers/scoophounds etc etc

If by working on them means he's in charge of catering then sure.

I saw nothing from this that proves he's capable of handling project with scope and characters on par or greater than Infinity War/Endgame. And MoM sucked balls.

Loki s1 was great but after MoM I’m not sure this guy can be trusted.
