Yesterday, the news broke that Spider-Man: Brand New Day star Sadie Sink will reprise her role in Avengers: Secret Wars. There are already countless rumours doing the rounds about her mystery character, and this latest revelation has only led to even more speculation.
If Sink is playing one of Peter Parker's college classmates, then her role may be no more significant than what we saw from Ned Leeds in Avengers: Infinity War. Still, that would be pretty boring, right?
So, with the Multiverse in play, we're taking a look at the most exciting—and likely—possibilities for Sink's Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Secret Wars character. From familiar faces to those who are a little more unexpected (we've left Jean Grey off the list...kinda), we'd bet that at least one of them is right!

5. Spider-Gwen
This alternate reality version of Gwen Stacy became a spider-powered superhero in place of Peter Parker (who, in her world, was transformed into the monstrous Lizard). As Spider-Woman, she's embarked on all manner of adventures and now resides on Earth-616.
We've become familiar with this character, courtesy of the animated Spider-Verse movies. That could mean she's off-limits to Marvel Studios before Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse's release, but Sink would be great as Gwen, and this has the potential to be a fun tie-in.
Even if Sink isn't playing the same Spider-Gwen, the character could be used in a similar capacity here, recruiting Tom Holland's web-slinger to help battle a deadly new threat to the Multiverse: Doctor Doom.
4. Anna-May "Annie" Parker
In the post-Secret Wars Marvel Universe, Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson married and had a young daughter, Anna-May, who quickly developed spider powers of her own. She'd later take the names "Spiderling" and "Nesting."
With Tobey Maguire supposedly "confirmed" to return in Avengers: Doomsday, we can't shake the feeling that the Stranger Things star has been cast as the daughter of his and Kirsten Dunst's respective Variants of Peter and Mary Jane.
It would make for a fun twist and means Earth-616's Peter would be teaming up with "his" daughter from a different timeline heading into the two-part Multiverse Saga finale.
3. Shathra
In recent years, Shathra has become a Multiversal big bad with ties to the Spider-Verse. When she first debuted, the wasp-like Shathra wished to devour Spider-Man and feed him to her young, and transformed into a woman called "Sharon Keller" who claimed she'd had an affair with him.
Her goal was to weaken Peter so she could, as noted, feed on him. The comic book Shathra escaped from the Astral Plane, but in the MCU, she could be a creature who has arrived on Earth-616 after slipping through the cracks of the dying Multiverse.
It would be a neat twist to reveal that Sink's seemingly innocuous character is really this terrifying villain, and gives the street-level Spider-Man: Brand New Day a Multiversal twist. As for Sink's Avengers: Secret Wars return, perhaps Doom dispatches her to deal with the wall-crawler?
2. Madelyne Pryor
We promised not to include Jean Grey here, but what about her clone, Madelyne Pryor? Also known as the Goblin Queen, Marvel Girl's doppelganger rules over Limbo and could be in cahoots with Doctor Doom as a member of his villainous team.
This may even be Marvel Studios' way of setting the stage for Sink to play another Jean Grey Variant when the X-Men reboot finally rolls around. In the meantime, seeing her manipulate Spidey to take him off the board for Avengers: Doomsday is a notion we can get behind.
Remember, in recent years, the Goblin Queen has become a big part of Spider-Man's corner of the Marvel Universe after allying with Chasm, a.k.a. Ben Reilly. That at least opens the door to her being reinvented for the MCU.
1. Mayday Parker
Introduced in 1997's What If...? #105, May "Mayday" Parker is the first child of Peter and Mary Jane Parker in a future, alternate universe. When Spider-Man lost a leg during a horrific battle with the Green Goblin, he decided to retire and focus on being a husband and father.
Years later, his teenage daughter realised she had powers and donned Ben Reilly's old suit as Spider-Girl. Her father eventually helped train her, and she encountered new versions of classic foes such as the Green Goblin and Venom.
We may end up with an amalgamation of Annie and Mayday Parker, but the latter would be our preference. If Maguire's Peter has sent her to Earth-616 to seek out his Variant's help, then this is a plot thread that could easily be picked up on in Doomsday and Secret Wars.
