While it's common knowledge that
Avengers: Infinity War will feature more heroes than we can possibly imagine, it looks like Marvel Studios only plans on using a handful of them to market the movie before it opens worldwide next month.
Twenty-three of Earth's Mightiest Heroes were featured on the recently released theatrical poster and now, those same twenty-three are seen on this awesome new theater standee, yet again, keeping several key contributors under wraps until next year's grand finale, the still-untitled
Avengers 4.
Among the notable absences are Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Wasp (Evangeline Lilly), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Heimdall (Idris Elba), Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), and of course, original Avenger, Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner). The first five absences are understandable since those characters are not expected to get much screentime due to their upcoming solo vehicles, but Hawkye's omission is pretty surprising considering it's really no secret that he'll appear in both films and has been heavily rumored to have a major role to play throughout the course of the two-part finale.
It would be interesting, to say the least, if Hawkeye did have minimal screentime in
Infinity War to set up an even bigger arc in
Avengers 4, but considering that he's been on-set since production began in February - even having to miss out on Tom Cruise's
Mission: Impossible - Fallout due to his year-long commitments on the two-part finale - it's hard to imagine he's not around for the majority of the film if he's been filming for that long. However, with Clint Barton expected to get a radically different look in the movie, it wouldn't be a stretch to assume that Marvel is hoping to keep his Ronin suit a secret for as long as they can, especially if he only dons it after something terrible happens to his family.
