Far down the line. Speculation into the Avengers films.

Lots of ideas are circulating around the Avengers films. This is my theory as to a possible villain and storyline for the third entry in the Avengers franchise. Hit the jump for more.

Hello CBMers!!! A lot of editorials lately in which people speculate immensley about multiple things in regards to future CBMs. Yet one franchise that seems to not be garnering to much speculation, that of the Avengers. More specifically, the third Avengers feature. Everyone knows that the sequel will entail an epic battle between the Avengers and Ultron. And most believe that the third will continue the story thread of that Thanos teaser from the first Avengers. However I offer speculation into the idea of another villain, perhaps in league with Thanos. My own theory into how the Scarlet Witch and the Avengers Disassembled storyline could be adapted for the MCU.

The Comics

The first Avengers film obviously gained its inspiration from the earlier Avengers tales. It was Loki who played the strings in the comics, helping the team first come together. The second looks to borrow from some of the later stories. Those great stories that featured Ultron as the greatest of threats. Perhaps for the third they could draw inspiration from a large Avengers story from the modern age. One of the biggest tales was that of the Avengers Disassembled, the story of how the team succumbed to the attacks of an insane Scarlet Witch.

The Character

Now we know she will be introduced into the film series with Age of Ultron. We also know she won't be a mutant or related to Magneto. Perhaps she could be from one of the other realms. It is in the other realms were characters of magic seem to inhabit, for example Loki. This would help explain her powers and could also be used to link her to Thanos. As seen in Avengers, Loki was in contact with representatives of Thanos, and Thanos was extremely determined to invade Earth, or our realm. Having failed by using a vessel for an all out up front invasion, Thanos could use a different route. Sending someone powerful to Earth, to gain Intel and befriend this team that managed to stop his first attempt at invading Earth. Many also think before Avengers 3 there will be a Dr. Strange film. Maybe Dr. Strange is a human who has gained entry to the magical realm, the one of Scarlet Witch's origin. He explores it and gains powers, also becoming a great ally to the Avengers in defeating Scarlet Witch.

Thematic Elements

This type of story also seems to make sense and could tie up that Thanos thread. It could also be a nice way to offer a "reset" to the franchise, allow the team to make drastic shifts and changes. It makes for a great threat, the former teammate who was a villain all along. It would be surprising and still seem to be inspired by the comics, the Avengers Disassembled storyline.

Well, this is my lighthearted feature in which I wanted to fall down a rabbit hole of my own design. Thanks for reading and hopefully you liked it!

I have always believed Thanos would have something to do with Ultrons creation. Thanos is first and foremost a genius. He also has a huge ego and would rather come up with something elaborate to take out his enemies rather than go in and start murdering people with his bare hands. If his plans fail he is more than capable of taking on any of the Avengers. His ego is his weakness and thats how he usually defeats himself. I can see him corrupting Ultron and turning him on the Avengers. Then in part three having to come take care of things himself.

Just my opinion but they should wait till Visions introduced to do Disassembled. If Vision and Wanda have their relationship then it would be much more of an impact when she kills him.

@WYLEEJAY - I thought about that because if I'm recalling correctly the cause of her insanity was the lose of her children. But since they have to omit a few details regardless, Wanda's father for instance, I hope they can make her that straight up betrayal type villain, I think the romance with Vision, the willing of children into existence is to much back story and oddness for the general audience. I really think Disassembled would be a good cap on the trilogy as as whole, because it can help explain the departure of certain characters, Iron Man, and allow them to push it in a whole new direction

Thanos pulling more strings through Ultron isn't necessary. He's already used Loki, he's going to be using Ronan in Guardians of the Galaxy... I think he shouldn't be involved with Ultron at all. Maybe it'd be cool if we find out in Avengers 3 that he's been monitoring earth's activities ever since the battle of New York. That would bring a better connection by the time he actually meets The Avengers.

As for bodies against Thanos... Of course all The Avengers will be there, The Defenders should be there (It would be a great opportunity to promote the Netflix series), the Guardians should be there and maybe a few additional Avengers introduced in A3 (Ms. Marvel, Strange-- whoever).

i thought rather than kill ultron(cos thats impossible) why not have him blasted of into space and set up annihilation conquest for the second guardians film.

Good article mate! But I think A3 should definitely be based off THE INFINITY GAUNTLET story line.

I don't think Strange should be added to the Avengers roster, but he should have a presence in the film, like a glorified cameo, also replacing Silver Surfer with the Guardians.

I figure I'll present my Ultron theory to you guys, as you're clearly interested in Avengers movies.

I think Robert Redford's character is Red Skull, as do many people. We recently learned that Baron Von Strucker will play a part in Avengers Age of Ultron and that he will be connected to SW and QS.

Anyway, my theory is this:
Red Skull (as Alexander Pierce) commissioned for S.H.I.E.L.D. to create more defenvise features which they have been doing for several years. As part of this he commissions the creation of a prototype android, that would eventually replace the human element of S.H.I.E.L.D., obviously a bad thing.
In actuallity, Skull has created this prototype in order to allow HYDRA to steal it. Once stolen, they begin programming it to hold the same fascist ideals as HYDRA do.
Ultron is born.

I also thought that maybe Strucker is the father of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver and their powers come from HYDRA using them as guinea pigs.

Interestein- i think they should mix elements of the recent infinity story with the infinity gauntlet and other stories. imagine the guardians (in a potential sequel)the nova corps and other cosmic heroes fighting to protect a world(and a gem) from thanos with the film ending with thanos now haveing 3/4 gems, he now sets his sights on earth.

so avengers infinity starts with the guardians warning the avengers about whats comeing (dr strange or the inhumans could have 1 of the remaining gems with the tesseract still being on asgard) so thanos's forces invade attilian where he confronts black bolt. so then there is afterwards there are 2 huge battles going on in the end with the guardians and other cosmic heroes and maybe iron man and thor fighting thanos's fleet in space while the avengers fight thanos's army somewhere like hong kong/tokyo/sydney,berlin/etc.

now the avengers only hope is to try and use the 2 infinity gems in their posestion to their advantage, cap, tony, nova and other heroes gets killed. just imagine the symbolism of cap's shield lieing on the floor in pieces as the avengers crumble. it would be amazing then maybe loki dies while dr strange channels the energy of the tesseract to lock thanos in another dimension separate from the gauntlet or something else which will let them win.

I also think Captain Mar-Vell is a must for the MCU at one point. He's such a symbolic character and opens the doors for others. Like Ms Marvel. We need a martyr, a hero to sacrifice his life to save others. He's the perfect inspirational character. Someone else can pick up the mantle of Captain Marvel afterwards. He should be involved in the Infinity Gauntlet movie.

@Alexander. Interesting theory. They have already said they will keep Iron man going with a new actor. They could definitely change their minds. They could introduce Ms Marvel a different way too. Without Captain Marvel I guess. I would just prefer him to be a part of it. A fanboy can dream.

Yeah they could of just said that to catch us off guard when they kill Iron man. It would be quite shocking.

A great way to end CA: TWS would be to kill Steve, leaving Bucky to take his place in future movies. But thats just me
