There were some rumors that Gwyneth Paltrow will not be back as Stark's personal assistant and love interest for the upcoming Avengers movie, but now the actress has revealed exclusively to Collider that she is not coming back:



No. No Pepper. I think it’s a for sure. I think they’re starting shooting soon and they probably would have asked me by now.

Shoot, I'm actually a little disappointed. When Joss said that Black Widow wouldn't be the only female in the Avengers movie, I was really confident that he would include Pepper. So that being said, I wonder which other female characters Joss will introduce...

She is a great Pepper Potts, why can't we give women the credit they deserve for owning CBM roles. She was a great Pepper and her appearence in The Avengers would have been great, we at least need Betty Ross in the Avengers, she's Hulk's chill pill

@gibbyblaylock, I don't think they have 20,000,000 to consider the smaller roles when it comes to the avengers,I like her character and her acting, hopefully avengers will be focused and like the cartoon will just here peppers voice telling tony to be careful.

Truthfully I'm surprised but almost pleased. I thought Joss might work in as many cameos as he could. It may have worked or it might not have. Paltrow's Pepper, while enjoyable to me, is certainly not worth the risk.

Joss already has enough characters on his plate. Iron Man, Cap America, Thor, Hulk, Nick Fury, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Agent Carlson... plus a bad guy or two. Save the love interests for the continuations on the solo films. I'd like to see Hank and Janet added to the roster for Avengers 2 as well, but Pepper Potts really couldn't add anything but a glorified cameo to the Avengers.

I am O.K. without Pepper but I have a huge problem with them replacing Gwyneth as the person playing her. That is how you ruin franchises.

I think she is great as Pepper, and her and RDJ have a lot of chemistry, but I'm glad she won't be in it. There are enough characters to divide screen time for as it is..already too many maybe!
