Joss Whedon Teases THE AVENGERS Deleted Scenes And Returning For A Sequel

When asked whether or not he'll return to helm a sequel to Marvel's The Avengers, Joss Whedon avoids the question but does offer some more hints as to what we'll see on the DVD and Blu-ray.

In an interview with MTV Splash Page, director Joss Whedon was asked whether he would return to helm a sequel to Marvel's The Avengers (a.k.a. Avengers Assemble) and managed to avoid giving a direct answer. Considering the movie has so far received almost unanimous praise, it's an extremely worrying thought to think he wouldn't choose to direct the planned follow up which is rumoured to be set for release in 2015. Whedon also once again teases what we might see on the DVD/Blu-ray.

"You know, it was an extraordinary experience. The actors gave me so much. Marvel gave me so much trust and the movie that I said, 'Well, if I was going to do this I'd like to do this.' And that's the movie I made. They only ever moved it forwards and collaborated and supported me. And I gotta tell you, that's unusual from a studio."

"There's a bunch of stuff that I loved on the DVD that absolutely needed to come out. I think you'll see why I loved them and why they needed to come out. spent some time with some of the ancillary characters because I thought we needed more of a human perspective. As it turned out people really just did want to see the Avengers."

[Maybe more S.H.I.E.L.D.?] "A little bit."

STARRING:

Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America
Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man
Chris Hemsworth as Thor
Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye

A X-men reboot should focus on the origins of ALL characters not to be another "wolvie & friends".

OR have prequel movies like Avengers. Which is unlikely.

You know what?

They should use the new Star Trek formula and create a different timeline, caused by Kitty Pryde / Rachel Summers or Bishop / Cable, coming from the future and changing the past. That would rock.

Let's look at Marvel's track record.
Jon Favreau: Replaced after two movies.
Edward Norton: Replaced after one movie.
Kenneth Branagh: Replaced after one movie.
Joe Johnston: Replaced after one movie.

If Whedon makes more than two movies, I'll be presently surprised, but even making two could be a problem.

Good for Joss.....there were allot of people thinking he would fail big time on the Avengers and he has proven them all wrong. I did a google search on "avengers reviews" and its just amazing what people are saying about the flick. The icing on the cake was his choice on Ruffalo, so many people pointing out Mark and the Hulk character as one of the best parts of the movie!

I had my doubts about Whedon, not many but a few neverhteless. But now i'm confident that when I see The Avengers it will blow my brains out. On the other hand, I always knew that Ruffalo would be the best Banner ever. The guy is really good.

@Soberchimera,it was Jon Favreau's choice to not do IM3,he is still a producer. As for Norton,he wanted to control the script and movie for another Hulk,he didn't create Marvel,so he can't call the shots,so they told him to GTFO! Now as for Thor and Cap,when your story only makes double the budget, someones got to answer. However Avengers is going to possibly destroy box office records,at least make 3×s its budget, over 1/2 a billion profit,Whedon will have Carte Blanche.....anywhere.

hopefully, in the deleted scenes, we'd FINALLY get to see:

- Hayley Atwell as a really old Peggy Carter
- Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, who's astounded to find her man looks soooooooooooooooooo different than the last time she saw him
- William Hurt as Gen. Ross, Betty's grumpy military dad. after re-watching that ending scene to TIH and reading the road to marvel's the avengers stories, i really wanna see some more of him interacting with Stark..and the rest of the avengers AND Jackson's Nick Fury. THAT should be INTERESTING
- Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, a scene of Thor seeing her off before she goes into hiding from Loki.

i won't mind any scene of the 'girlfriends' interacting with one another, either. i.e., pepper potts talking and comforting the worried jane foster. or, betty encountering the old peggy by chance and learning that she's connected to the one guy who received the only original super soldier serum.

@not only is Joss Whedon an expert in collaboration of characters but he's also a genius when it comes to making the characters evolve.
