I guess this COULD be considered the ninth episode, if the five episodes made by combining the "micro episodes" are counted. This will be the fourth FULL-LENGTH episode. That's a nice little touch for this show for anyone who knows their Avengers history.

Hawks: I would agree that the Avengers is the best animated superhero series I've seen in a while. That really says something, considering the high regard I have for Batman: The Brave and the Bold and had for Wolverine and the X-Men and Spectacular Spider-Man.

They consider the compilation episodes ep3-ep7.

I watched the first two and went a little nuts. Been a while since I watched a Disney channel and I know they are paced for kids but 3 minutes of show and then 2 minutes of commercial was just too much.

The show itself is aimed at a rather young audience and not really that interesting to me. I find it odd that while most of the Characters look pretty classic there is something really wrong about Iron Man. Where did that punisher-skull-shape face come from?

That is also my fear about the show that it would be geared toward younger children. I wanted it to be like justice league but there's no way that show could be that good not on this channel, but there is hope for it because wolverine and the x men started slow but in the end was a pretty entertaining show.

Ok I actually love this show. I don't think it is a complete kids show or a complete adults show. I think its in the middle. Actually if you watch the commercials its hilarious because they have no idea what their target audience is. They go from a PG-13 movie trailer to a lego commercial, very funny. As for the actual show I love it, (I am 34) grew up with these characters and enjoy seeing them again on television. The great thing is I get to introduce my daughter (8) to all these great characters and story lines. I love it. Last weeks show with the Enchantress and the Hulk was great.

comicb00kguy: I know from our past conversations that we both feel almost exactly the same about all thing Avengers. I was all giddy watching the first two episodes of this show. I felt like a kid again.

Wraith: I beieve you can watch them at Marvel.com.

I fail to see how the Justice League was somehow more "adult-oriented" than this.

@indoraptor12

Exactly. JL/JLU was aimed at the same exact demographic. No one should fool themselves into thinking anything different. It just so happened that JL/JLU could be enjoyed by all ages. Well, guess what? So can this show.

As a fan of the Avengers since the 70's, this is a dream show for me!

I am loving it.

I love how it combines elements of the original storyline with more modern elements to give us a new, exciting story.

"Breakout" was a cool storyline in the comics, so I was happy with it being used as the catalyst for the Avengers being created.

And I am glad they are sticking with the original progression so far with the original five being the team to start off, then the Hulk leaving, and then adding Cap with this episode.

Overall, I give it an A+ so far.

'fool themselves'? Redlion. Interesting point of view there. My impression is that the show is aimed more towards the younger set than the 2 JLA series. You obviously disagree but there is no fooling involved.

On JLA the plots at least had a little bit of depth to them. Listening to Gravaton rant and rave reminded me strongly of comics circa 1970 or so.

I love the Avengers and it is great to see more of them but it did not interest me nearly as much as JLA did and I am a bigger Avengers fan.

@TheDarqueOne

I mean no offense by this but -

That probably has something (everything), to do with you being premature in judging this far to early and immature in that your trying to rationalize witch superhero cartoon (with the same direct audience and rating by the way) is more adult oriented...

Just saying.

Hawks: I felt like a kid again myself. Especially at the end when the Hulk is by the North Pole and the camera focuses in on Cap's frozen shield. Geek-out moment!

Ultron: I've only been an Avengers fan since the early '80s myself, but I agree with everything you said. I can't say enough good about the show.

DarqueOne: The worst thing about the commercial breaks on this show is that they advertise all those live-action Disney shows. Talk about brain-rotting drivel! Makes me appreciate the mute button even more. I do have to respectfully disagree about the writing on this show. I think it's a lot more written as an all-ages show than geared for little kids, like the Super Hero Squad or Krypto the Super Dog are. The JLA was written by people who had been doing superhero cartoons for quite a while, really "knew" the characters, and had some good history to build upon. Audiences were also familiar with a lot of the heroes on the show, and didn't need the introduction to them that they need to the Avengers. Things have to slow down a little while you're introducing new characters, and new concepts like the Avengers Mansion and their ID cards. Once that's out of the way, the pace should pick up.

You can watch the first two episodes on YouTube.

Does anybody know what the heck is going on with these episodes?! After watching hte first two episodes (which were NEW), episode three and four have just been repeats. Where is this video about Temptress and the Hulk? I am getting kinda Peed Off that they are not releasing these things in order.........

Ultron8872 - 11/2/2010, 10:47 AM
I think the series is more geared for pre-teen/young adults than JL/JLU were.

But given that it is on Disney XD, wasn't that a given?

DC has been darker, more adult oriented since Batman the Animated Series was so well-received in the 90's.

I don't think Marvel wants to move in that direction, they want to keep it somewhat light, especially with the cartoons.

@Vox.

Eps 1 and 2 were "Breakout".. eps 3-7 were the microcompilation episodes (which take place before Breakout).. ep 8 Hulk/Enchantress.. ep 9 Captain America.

I have been pleasantly surprised by how good this current show is because the last avengers show was horrible. And the animation isn't as bad as I thought it was, it still not as good as dc animation but its not bad. I give it a 9 out of 10

This show is better than I could have ever imagined.

Its moving at a good pace and its following the original storyline fairly closely.

The original five starting out, then the Hulk quits, then they find Cap, now Zemo and the Masters of Evil (Enchantress and Executioner so far) are up next.

Now Episode 10 introduces Wonder Man (though with a slightly altered storyline).

Looks like Episode 11 will bring the Panther into the fold.

I'm still very happy with this series.
