UPDATE: Stan Lee Explains Why He's Not In X-Men: First Class; Confirms Avengers Cameo!

The legendary comic book creator reveals exactly why he won't be appearing in X-Men: First Class and confirms plans for him to have a cameo in Marvel Studios upcoming epic, The Avengers...

Once again taking to Twitter, here's what Stan "The Man" Lee had to say about his lack of cameo in X-Men: First Class and his seemingly confirmed one in The Avengers.

Warriors mine, grieve thee not that I have no cameo in X-Men 1st Class. ‘Tis just that the movie was filmed too far away for me to attend

Bryan Singer, the brilliant director of X-Men 1st Class, is a good friend of your beloved Generalissimo and we all wish him well

But know ye t his, I have already completed my roles in Captain America and the new Spider-Man, so all is well in Cameo Land.

Next up--The Avengers. Unless they shoot it on the Moon nothing shall keep thy leader from making his awesome presence known! Excelsior!

WOW! When I make a blooper it’s a lulu! The brilliant Bryan Singer didn’t direct X-Men 1st Class! Marvel-ous Matt Vaughn’s at the helm!

Sorry for any confusion, troops. Hope Bryan and Matthew’ll forgive me. But the most important thing I’m hoping is------

I hope my bonehead mistake won’t make them skip my cameo in the next X-Men just to teach me a lesson! Excelsior!

Huh, perhaps someone should tell Stan that it's actually Matthew Vaughn directing! Still, with no invite to the set (and little to no involvement with the movie) it's understandable that he might make a mistake like this. He's a busy guy after all! Regardless, X-Men: First Class will hit cinemas in a little over two weeks.

Meanwhile, with an all star cast which includes Chris Evans as Captain America, Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Rufallo as Bruce Banner, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Tom Hiddleston as Loki, The Avengers is set to be released on May 4, 2012!

@P862010: No he probably doesn't now that. Not every one goes online finding out all the information they can on the latest anticipated superhero movies like you and I.

@ALmighty1080: He's in these movies because he either created the character/team or brought back the character (Captain America, Namor, and etc.). Also not all of his cameos are comedic or need to be comedic. All his Spider-Man cameos, both his Hulk cameos, and his first X-men cameo were all not comedic. Plus, Thor, Ironman, and Spider-Man all had comedic elements in their comics so why not put that in their movies.

@LFANCH: So you think Avengers is going to rock, but X-Men: First Class is going to suck? Why? Most people that seem to think First Class will be horrible beleive this because of the adaption changes, but since your for The Avengers film (and their adaption screw ups) obviously this isn't the case. So why do you beleive this?

The fact that Stan is not in X-MEN just confirms the fact that this movie will suck.

"Warriors mine, grieve thee not that I have no cameo in X-Men 1st Class. ‘Tis just that the movie was filmed too far away for me to attend" How does Josh take this to mean Stan got "no invite"? I'm sure he would've done the cameo if he could have and I seriously doubt no invitation was extended to him. Speaking of which, did Stan do cameos in "Daredevil" and "Electra"? I don't recall.

Yeah, Stan still shouldn't get a Cameo in Capt because it takes place IN THE 30'S!!! He had nothing to do with it during then, if it was a sequel okay but NOOO... his credit stealing way has to have the credit. And don't give me that crap "Well he revived the series". Good, he revived it but he should have a cameo in that revivaled time! And also don't give me that crap that he did credited everyone else, because it would mean something if he didn't still say he created everything AFTER he said that.

The Thor cameo was pretty funny!

I don't think I have ever heard anyone hate on Stan Lee, well done Machagino. Although anyone who embraces their inner gino so much that they need to mechanize can't be too bright.

@golden123
I think the reason why he thinks that way is do to the idea that while Avengers obviously made changes to the characters, it doesn't completely diverge from the original plot and story it was set out to be.

Avengers retain most of their original line up, kept the origin in tack (Loki using the Hulk to further his plans), and it manage to give off an epic atmosphere with all the foreshadowing and line up.

As for First Class; while it seems good like all the other X-Men movies, it still commits the same mistakes from those previous movies. For example, messed up continuity between the comics and other movies, adding characters that doesn't fit the flow of the movie, not looking back on the comics for inspiration in story and it just comes off as just another X-Men movie with nothing new (that last reason is my opinion from looking at all the marketing).
