BATGIRL Directors Seemingly Confirm That Batman WILL Appear In The Movie

Though something may have been lost in translation here, Batgirl directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have appeared to confirm that Batman will show up in the planned HBO Max movie...

Despite reports to the contrary, it seems Bruce Wayne/Batman might just make his presence felt in the upcoming HBO Max Batgirl movie after all.

During an interview with Dutch radio station VRTNWS, directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah were asked "which Batman" would feature in their film. While they didn't name any actors, reports indicate that the filmmakers laughed and responded, "the real one."

There's been some discussion about the translation (some seem to feel Arbi and Fallah were simply joking around), but this would appear to confirm that some version of the Dark Knight will factor into the movie. Who the "real one" is is obviously up for debate - are they referring to Robert Pattinson's current incarnation, for example, or are they more likely to be talking about the original big-screen Caped Crusader, Michael Keaton?

Recently, Batgirl herself, Leslie Grace, indicated that Batman won't have anything to do with Barbara Gordon's first solo feature, which obviously has to be taken into account. Of course, there's a chance she was simply trying to keep things under wraps for fear of spoiling the surprise.

Loki composer Natalie Holt announced that she's signed on to work on Batgirl's score last month. Christina Hodson, who wrote Bumblebee and also worked on Birds of Prey and The Flash, penned the most recent draft of the script. J.K. Simmons is reportedly in talks to reprise the role of Babs' father, Jim Gordon, but his involvement is yet to be made official.

What do you guys make of these comments? If anyone happens to speak Dutch, feel free to offer your own take!

@Waddles - It make as much sense as joker in justice league. fans don't care, they just want it even if it flops. you can tell the snyder-verse is terrible when they rather make a sequel to Burton's Batman rather than a Batfleck solo film.

@Menks123 - I was thinking the same as they are supposed to be using the Flash film to set him up for multiple films as a mentor sort of Batman.

Would it be Keaton? How old do they want to make Batman be in comparison to Batgirl?

Ben Affleck. Please. If it's not connected to the larger universe than what are we doing here...

Everything to do with DC on screen is so goddamn confusing.

So this is an hbo max exclusive, but ZSJL, which JK Simmons is in, released on hbo max, that’s not canon. This GCPD and spinoff, also an hbo max original, is canon to Matt Reeves’ The Batman. The Penguin spinoff, also an hbo max original, is also canon to The Batman. Then theres The Suicide Squad, and the hbo max Peacemaker show, those are canon, but to the DCEU. Then theres the Flash movie, which is DCEU canon and has Ben Affleck’s version of Batman, but that will supposedly make Michael Keaton’s version the new main Batman. Like, WTF?!? imagine explaining all that to a casual audience member…

Also, am I the only one who’s not into the idea of 70 year old Michael Keaton rumoredly becoming the new ‘main’ Batman? The whole idea of bringing him back at all feels like a cheap money grab / nostalgia-bait move to begin with, and could be fun for ONE story, but as the main guy going forward? Lame. WB has no idea what their plan is.

Best thing we can hope for is that the Flash actually does end with Flashpoint type event, and merges Matt Reeves’ universe with the better parts of the DCEU, (Henry Cavill, Wonder Woman 1, Shazam), and establishes the Batman movies as all taking place before everything else.
