BATMAN: THE DOOM THAT CAME TO GOTHAM New Stills Put A Fresh Spin On Some Familiar DC Characters

Ahead of its release later this month, new stills from Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham have found their way online (via Toonado.com) showcasing just how different this spin on the Caped Crusader will be.

In these images, we see characters like Harvey Dent, Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Oliver Queen, and Oracle, along with a hint about the supernatural direction this story will head in. Visually, it's very much in line with the rest of what's been dubbed the "Tomorrowverse," and that gothic setting definitely suits the aesthetic of Bruce Wayne's home.

Like a lot of Elseworlds tales, this promises to be an enjoyable ride. While Batman often takes centre stage in the DCAU movies, a refreshing take on the hero like this should be welcomed by fans.

Based on Hellboy creator Mike Mignola and Richard Pace's 2000 Elseworlds story of the same name, the story is heavily inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos, with the title actually referencing his short story "The Doom That Came to Sarnath." While the likes of Superman and Wonder Woman won't appear, many grounded heroes and villains will.

In The Doom That Came to Gotham, explorer Bruce Wayne accidentally unleashes an ancient evil, and returns to Gotham after being away for two decades. Batman battles Lovecraftian supernatural forces and encounters allies and enemies such as Green Arrow, Ra’s al Ghul, Mr. Freeze, Killer Croc, Two-Face, and James Gordon.

In terms of the movie's cast, Jensen Ackles - who appears to be the Tomorrowverse's official Caped Crusader - won't be reprising his role as Batman. Instead, A Million Little Things star David Giuntoli will lend his voice to the Dark Knight.

Elsewhere, we can look forward to hearing Tati Gabrielle as Kai Li Cain, Christopher Gorham as Oliver Queen, John DiMaggio as James Gordon, Patrick Fabian as Harvey Dent, Brian George as Alfred, and Jason Marsden as Dick Grayson and Young Bruce Wayne.

Supporting cast members include Karan Brar as Sanjay "Jay" Tawde, David Dastmalchian as Grendon, Navid Negahban as Ra's al Ghul, Emily O'Brien as Talia al Ghul and Martha Wayne, Tim Russ as Lucius Fox, Matthew Waterson as Jason Blood/Etrigan, Jeffrey Combs as Kirk Langstrom, William Salyers as Cobblepot, Gideon Adlon as Oracle, and Darin De Paul as Thomas Wayne.

Batman: The Doom That Came To Gotham is set to be released on March 28.

I like this animation style and the premise a lot, so I'll definitely check it out. Previous Elseworlds like Gotham by Gaslight and Red Son were entertaining too

OT: I've been enjoying the latest DC animated movies compared to the New 52 ones that came out a few years ago.

1. Man of Tomorrow: A
2. Batman Long Halloween: A/B
3. Justice Society: A
4. Legion of Super-heroes: B
5. Green Lantern: Beware my power: B/C
(lowest ranking here because of what they did to Hal).

@Arthorious - That's a solid list. I loved Man of Tomorrow and Justice Society haven't seen Legion of Super-heroes yet, is it worth the watch??

@narrow290 - I’d say it’s worth it but not in the same category of Man of Tomorrow. It’s good but there’s some character changes that were jarring which kind of took me out of it.

@Arthorious - Thanks bro, I’m gonna go ahead with the purchase. I just checked the site to see if you responded. Sounds good to me I’m not super familiar with the Legion characters anyway
