While fans continue to debate whether or not we'll see Bane (Tom Hardy) "Break The Bat" in The Dark Knight Rises, there's no doubting just how brutal the battles between him and Christian Bale's Batman will be. At a press conference for the film yesterday, the latter went into detail about exactly what fans should expect when the two come to blows in director Christopher Nolan's epic finale to his take on the Caped Crusader.

"The thing I liked so much about the fight sequences with [Bane] is they're never just knock-down fight sequences. You learn something more about each character throughout each fight, which is the mark of a good fight. ...You learn about what Batman has had to go through from the beginning of the movie to the end in order to be able to defeat this man."

"And you're learning about Bane as well, and the changes that have come over him. And that's always essential in any fight. That's really what you're looking for.. We've seen so many people punching each other non-stop, who cares? You're looking for 'what are the changes? What are the weaknesses? What are the strengths of each character that are going to allow them to dominate one or the other?'"

According to HitFix, Bale had earlier referenced the villain as, "the first adversary of Batman's that you know could probably whip his butt." While his analysis of how Nolan handles such scenes is an interesting one, some fans previously criticized the fights in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. However, Inception showed just how fantastic a handle the director has on these sequences, while the snippets of footage in the TV spots and trailers are surely proof enough that fans have nothing to worry about.

Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ "The Dark Knight Rises" is the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. The screenplay is written by Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan, story by Christopher Nolan & David S. Goyer. The film is produced by Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Charles Roven, who previously teamed on “Batman Begins” and the record-breaking blockbuster "The Dark Knight." The executive producers are Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Kevin De La Noy and Thomas Tull, with Jordan Goldberg serving as co-producer. The film is based upon characters appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. Batman was created by Bob Kane.

Grif was NOT right about Amazing Spider-man. Don't be silly.. I had a right problem with the fights in Begins. I know Nolan wanted it to feel real but when I saw the extras on the dvd..I was like oh man!! Bu the fight in china at the start was awesome. Here hoping the fights in this are the best yet.

As a long-time reader, I love the little battles that pop up here in the comments. Seriously, from an outside perspective you all look like a bunch of whining brats. This is the best year ever for CBMs and you all just fight amongst each other.

Enjoy the ride - TDKR is going to be a great film. You all need to chill and just have fun.

SotoJuiceman I agree, the point at hand here is simple too, it sounds like the fights in this one are going to be a combination of brutality and of evolution in the sense of "smart" fighting. I myself am looking forward to the movie and think it is going to be the best one of the series. As for will it trump the competition, yes I think it will even if by a narrow margin.

@jessepostal: Damn, i never thought about that, a batarang straight in the squid mouthpiece or in the source of Bane's meds could take him out easyly, like when the real Bane's Venom tube is cut.

Let's face it, if he was alive there would be no Oscar.

Purely a sympathy vote for tragic story.

As far as TDK goes. There was too many holes. Not enough back story Explaining the villain.

And for you Dweebs who think this is about DC or Marvel. Get a life. I love Batman and Superman. Learn a life lesson, opinions are just that and we all have a right to our own.

If this was really about DC versus Marvel… Well that's been put to bed a long time ago. Sorry Dems are just the facts. Sucks for you I guess but that's the way the pages fell.
