Christian Bale Passes On Darren Aronofsky's NOAH; Michael Fassbender Eyed As Replacement

After passing on The Wolverine, many wondered what was next for Darren Aronofsky and while it has been known for a while that he'd be helming Biblical epic, Noah, there is now finally some news on casting.

Variety report that The Dark Knight Rises star has passed on Darren Aronofsky's Noah, with the director now said to be pursuing X-Men: First Class' Michael Fassbender for the lead role in the Biblical epic. While no official offer has been made at this point (Deadline add that Bale was the top choice but was forced to pass on the project due to commitments to Terrence Malick's Lawless and Knight Of Cups) the actor has reportedly spoken to Aronofsky and is available after work on Warner Bros. and Rupert Wyatt's Londongrad has come to a halt. Production on Noah is expected to begin early next year, with a script by Aronofsky and Ari Handel which was subsequently rewritten by Gladiator and Skyfall scribe John Logan.

Disappointed that Bale passed, would've loved to see him in the film. But Fassbender would be an excellent choice.

Fassbender has been making waves for quite a while though in more indie, little seen movies. Although his rise to stardom seems quick, he's been around years. I first saw him in an Irish film called Hunger and he blew me away. Then Fish Tank, Eden lake. I always hoped he'd make it big.

Hopefully the Next Batman trilogy is SLIGHTY (emphasis on slightly) more campy, or specifically less realistic/Nolan-y. WAY more like the comics. I think Robin could be there if done right and his costume colors were severely muted like and olive green (tactical) and deep red (stealthy)

I agree with you SuspenseSmith. In Biblical times from what I've read and learned the people lived longer but even though they were say 200 then didn't look like that. Many scientist believe that Earth was surrounded by a canopy of water which at the time of the The Flood or Great Deluge.

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light "day and the darkness he called "night. And there was evening, and there was morning - the first day. And God said, Let there be an expanse (raqyia, firmament) between the waters to separate water from water." It seems clear, on the surface at least. Water that covered the primal earth was separated creating water above and below. The upper water, called ‘raqiya , is described as a solid, metallic like canopy surrounding the earth.

Under these conditions life on Earth was quite different from how it is now and in this giant green house environment lifeforms grew bigger, stronger and lived longer.

Noah's ark is my favorite fairy tale...it was also told in the Epic of Gilgamesh, which was written hundreds of years before the Bible. Most people of the Abrahamic religions don't know this. They don't like to research or think too much, they like to just stick to what they were told. As a matter of fact many world religions have a flood story that are far older than the Genesis story Anyway, they just ripped it off Gilgamesh and catered it to the Jewish faith.

Any first-grader could tell you that people don't live to be hundreds of years old. It's physiologically impossible. it's impossible to collect two of every land animal on Earth. Or that, even if one could, getting them all on a single boat the size of the supposed Ark would be impossible. Or if you could, it would be impossible to keep them all onboard for 40 days and 40 nights. (If you read any books other than the bible, or even go to school, you will learn that animals feed on other animals or feed on food sources not found on a magic boat.)

but whatever I can't wait for this film
